since you are just getting started i suggest getting a starter deck. you will know what a starter deck is by looking for the start here on the box. it will help you understand the game. once you got the hang to it by a structure deck. they are constructed by pros so you can better know about combos. when your done with that it's time to buy boosters and fat packs to add to your collection and make your own custom made deck. their are 5 colors choose which colors you want

red: fast and hard attacks

black: stealing life for yourself

white: set up defense

blue: control your opponent

green: overpower with huge creatures with alot of power

It also doesn't have to be a specific color combo. There's also the creature types to consider as well. I will agree with admiraldeweynaruto and say that buying the starter deck is your best bet. After you get acquainted with everything, then start branching out and try to find a specific strategy that could work for you.

When I played last year, before I picked up on the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG, I ran a mono-green Squirrel Deck. Death by squirrel isn't pretty, but hilarious when executed properly.
