Bigger and Better!

At the Pharaoh's Tour qualifier today, I played a round of bigger and better. For those of you who don't know, the rules are as follows:

 

Start with a single card, and aim to get more/valuable cards at the end of the day using only cards you have acquired in your initial trade with the first card you started with. You are not allowed to introduce other cards into the equation or use money. The playability of the cards isn't really important, although it must be considered to an extent to allow further trades. So, here's how my round went...

For: Montage Dragon (ultra)

For: Kaibaman (DR4 secret)

 

Traded: Kaibaman

For: Phantom of Chaos, Trap Dustshoot (super), Psychic Trigger, Marshmallon, Harpie's Feather Duster (super)

 

Traded: Trap Dustshoot and Phantom of Chaos

For: Lightning Punisher (ultimate), Evil Hero Malicious Edge (super), Destiny Hero Fear Monger (super)

 

Traded: Harpie's Feather Duster and Marshmallon

For: Evil Dragon Ananta, Lava Golem (ultra), Elemental Hero Storm Neos, A horde of PP01 cards which I cannot be bothered to list...

 

Traded: Destiny Hero Fear Monger

For: Revival Jam (super), Evil Hero Malicious Edge (super), D.D. Warrior Lady (gold)

 

Traded: Revival Jam

For: Dark Hunter (ultra)

 

Traded: Dark Hunter

For: Kuriboh, Winged Rhynos (super) and Neo Spacian Aqua Dolphin (super)

 

Traded: Evil Hero Malicious Edge

For: Eradicator Epidemic Virus (super)

 

So, at the end of the day, starting with just the Chaosrider Gustaph, I now have in my dedicated "Bigger and Better" folder:

Next tournament I will be continuing using the above cards. Look out for results of round 2, and I encourage you to try the game yourself- it's fun! Just make sure you have a pen and paper to record all trades.

I traded Avian for 3 Blue Eyes. Both terrible, but 1 Avian < 3 Blue Eyes

People aren't stupid, nobody will trade good cards for bad cards. The aim of the game is just to buffer up value/number

I still have a way to go before I reach his level of excellency at this game, but I'll keep trying!

So, if everyone has 1 card to start, and you finished with more than one, that means some people finish with none. How the hell would it be possible to trade yourself into nothing if you have any common sense at all?

No, me and Ed were the only people playing the game- other people not playing the game could trade me as many cards as they wanted, as long as they were receiving in return cards that I had acquired in the Bigger and Better game.
