I agree. A moderator should think about what he/she posts. Mods have power. And with power comes responsibility. [/quotefromspiderman] You see' date=' even [b']me[/b] (should be I), Necro Lord, can post with amazing grammar9.0

I hope you're being sarcastic, as your grammar is terrible, though your spelling is fine.

Sarcastic about grammar? Moi? Jamais. En français. Mais en anglais, oui, je fait des errors.

lol' date=' This thread has made me Chuckle. I may not type Perfect Grammar 100% of the time, I do however try my Hardest. I also do use Exclimation Points a LOT! lol Mostly to tell people how I feel when Moderating.

[/quote']

And this is why I don't respect anything you have to say.

You practice no assertiveness or professionalism in your writing habits.

So? At least I don't type in all Small Letters. OR TYPE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME! I type the way I want to. Let me guess, you ran out of ways to be miserable about losing your Moderator Status and want to insult our Grammar now? Low... and Pitiful.

Picking at your faults is fun.

And here you cover up your failure as a native speaker of English by attempting to lower me.

You're so much the bigger man, right? (All puns intended.)

They earned their job good grammar was never a requirement so just leave it okay. You will have to learn how to deal with it. Not every single member is like you with perfect grammar ect..ect..ect.

I'm going to assume that English is your native tongue.

Why do you feel that it is acceptable to fail at your own language?

It is my native tongue' date=' and maybe not all of them are perfect in english I mean look at DJ(Raver). THey earned there jobs because they cna handle it and deserve it. Truthfully their grammar, english or anything else does not matter as long as they get their job done and like it, that is what really matters.

[/quote']

Proto you have one of the worst typing skills yet your posting on this thread >.>

Mods should have somewhat good skills, not perfect but readable =P

What you people seem to forget is this:

Mods are humans, just like all of you. And as such, they can't be expected to be flawless. Complaining about the grammar in a post that was written in maybe, I don't know, ten seconds? That's just absurd.

Putting this "test" you speak of on Mods would be like putting it on the everyday member as well and ban everyone that fails. Reasonable? No.

I agree with you to an extent

Mods should have at least legible English skills' date=' but I don't think that going to an extent of an SAT Writing exam would work.

We should have it so mods with bad grammar can be "reported" or something.

I don't know, really, an effective resolution to this problem.

Also, I think this should be moved to 'Comments, Suggestions, Help' thread

[/quote']

and then warning all members with bad grammer XD

lol if that were the case i would be permed by now

You made a good point here. I think proper grammar should be one of the requirements to become a mod.

I do admit that my English is not flawless, though, as my native tongue is French and I don't speak English in my everyday life, but I try to give my best to improve and avoid using those semi-French neologisms.:P

Moderators are the best of the best.

They are chosen for their skills-good card making, politeness, etc.

It would be logical that they use English language well,...But,even if they make a few mistakes it won't kill any of us.

To be honest-I think that taking any tests would be too much.Even if they are making some mistakes, they will learn correct spelling by communicating with other members.

Example:If moderator writes tourniment and 50 other members write tournament, moderator will figure out that he made a mistake, right?

But,that's just my opinion,...

To be quite honest, a fair few mods have a decent level of grammar, in the sense that it's readable and there aren't too many capital letters at the start of words. (sometimes J-Max does). Near-perfect grammar is nice and cosy, but it probably won't happen. Firing mods is a touch extreme. Not saying it'd ruin the site or anything. But even Crab Helmet makes somewhat frequent grammar mistakes by starting sentences with conjunctions. ;p

Starting a sentence with a conjunction is perfectly fine. You just have to know when it is inappropriate, as often that is an indicator that a semicolon would be more appropriate than a period.

All the grade school teachers that claim you can't start a sentence with "and" are wrong.

Not a question for me' date=' but I feel like answering it.

I partake in the public school system, but my school is relatively prestigious in my district.

On the last paper for English, I was one of only two to receive an A; the other girl was a native Chinese like me.

What does this say about America, when the dominant race cannot even wield its language effectively?

[/quote']

I have impeccable skill with grammar, yet I didn't always get A's on my English papers in high school. Correct grammar isn't the only thing required to write an A-worthy paper, and holding it over our heads like this is just stupid and arrogant.

But when another person (a "gangsta" guy) speaks' date=' no one understands what he says!

[/quote']

Because gangsters are so representative of the general American. >_>

Personally' date=' I think moderators should only have to try to use [b']proper[/b] grammar when they're dealing with forum issues. Other than that, I don't think it really matters.

Bold = fixed. This sounds reasonable to me.

Picking at your faults is fun.

And here you cover up your failure as a native speaker of English by attempting to lower me.

You're so much the bigger man' date=' right? (All puns intended.)

[/quote']

And this is why I don't think I ever had any shred of respect for anything you have to say.

Seems rather hypocritical, calling people out for grammar mistakes when you yourself can't even seem to make a serious attempt at completing whole sentence strings without leaving words out.

And here you cover up your failure as an intelligent discussant by attempting to lower others.

You're so much the bigger man, right?

Wow, is this really an issue?

You disappoint me Tea.

All you do is go around looking for something to rant about. It always seems to be something about the mods, or something that is degrading somebody.

Grammar is not as important as people think it is his. This is a children’s forum, and we are talking about people not having perfect grammar?

Tea, just shut up. Get over the fact that you can't back up your threats anymore, and gtfo.

Get a life, go outside, and try to get some friends (That’s a tough one, I know, but I know you can do it, I believe in you!).

Having great grammar is not the most important thing on this forum. If you can get the point across, does it really matter if you forgot a comma or two? Does it matter if you forgot to cap the first word in a sentence?

No, it doesn't.

So Tea, please stfu. Go find something else to do. Again, I already told you it, but idk if it got through that thick head of yours, so I'll say it again.

Get a life, go outside, and try to actually get some friends, because obviously, ycm isn't working out for you.

good point, but i think what you really mean to say is that no matter how intelligent you are you need to be able to convey it in a logical manner. if you cant even do that, then who will dare follow you or your rule on an internet forum, where the only impression of you that we have is in your text?

on that note i agree with all of what you say. ;)

Not again....

Moderating isn't al ALL about grammar, it is about how you can be responsible for your own actions. You could lock a thread by saying 'this is gonna be locked'. Who cares? Do you care?

If you consider this requirement to be OPTIONAL, then I accept. But no....

p.s I'm chinese, I have my own personal thoughts for this. And you too tea.

I really don't care about the spelling of one word. If that's the game you want to play, I can follow all of your posts and look for mistakes too. But I have more important things to do.

Not once did I ever claim to have perfect grammar.
