I live in Ohio and for a long time thought global warming was a waste of breath and today proved it because it has been snowing for about an hour now I'm just curious what everyone thinks about it

global warming doesn't exist

Don't be ignorant. Global Warming does exist. It has to do with the net temperature of the whole world. I live in Ohio too, and I've noticed the changes in Weather Patterns. It's not about us magically getting less snow or something. Global Warming messes with all the ocean currents and air currents, etc. It can cause unusually cold weather as well as unusually warm weather. The weather patterns simply become more erratic. You deny it's existence because you have a cold winter, but you can't look at it that way. The cold winter actually helps to prove the existence of Global Warming. On a larger scale, the Earth is warming up.

I love science class...

"Global warming is a natural effect on the Earth. After an Ice Age, the Earth slowly heats up due to the Ice Age. Once we get to the hottest point, the Earth slowly cools down and we revert back into an Ice Age. This cycle has been happening for the past 20 million years, and will continue to cycle. During the warming stage, polar ice caps melt, raising the water level. During the cooling stage, polar ice caps freeze, lowering the water level. Global warming is natural, but it is also affected by the H factor, humans. The increase in the release of CO2 gases makes more sunlight and heat energy trapped, quickening the process. Before CO2 gases, the period of heating and cooling stages were more broad. Now, the period is shorter, and the temperature goes to more extreme limits..."

Yes, it is natural. Yes, it is fake.

Yes, it is man-made. Yes, it is real.

Mike: When's global warming going to happen sir?

Scientist: By my calculations, it hasto be two days before the day after tomorrow

Mike: Which means?

Scientist: Today

Mike: *GASP* EVERYBODY RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

AHHH AHHHHHHHH

Mike: Oh the heat, I can't.....stand it *faints*

By the themometer, it's only 27 celcius

WTF man....too serious, we have at least another 1000 years before we get thrashed

The Dark One how much of that is related to La Nina and El Nino, and how much is beyond their normal cycle. It is happening, but the US, South America and Australia must take into account the Southern Oscillations Patterns.

It maybe too late to stop it starting, but its not too late to stop it getting worse.

Interesting, I didn't know the weather patterns we had around here actually had a name.

And La Nina just gives us generally cold winters. We've been having crazy things like snow a few months early or late, and then a chunk of practically spring-time weather during winter, followed by more flurries. Can it all be attributed to the effects of Global Warming? I don't know, but it does support the theory. Global Warming is pretty certain.

I agree, we've already created problems, but that doesn't give us an excuse to keep pumping our atmosphere full of greenhouse gases. The Earth is able to naturally get rid of these gases, but it doesn't happen quickly. We're just going to make the existing effects worse, and slow down our planet's recovery rate, if we don't do something about Global Warming.

@ the earlier person who said something about Global Warming being natural but aided by humans: Global Warming does happen naturally as well, but it's not at this time. We're actually overdue for an Ice Age.

I don't care whether or not it exists' date=' as long as the world doesn't end in my lifetime.

A. Don't be a f*cking selfish prick

B. The world isn't going to end, it's just going to get a whole lot less comfortable for us humans.

C. The world is going to become rather uncomfortable within our lifetimes.

Meh,

We are all going to die some day anyway. Every era has ended with a mass extinction so far:

I.E.

Precambrian

Paleozoic

etc...

It's a matter of time before Cenozoic life is mostly destroyed.

So what's the point of trying and stopping it? We should try and speed it up so the world can start a new era sooner.

Global Warming will likely only lead to the mass extinction of other species. Humans will undoubtedly survive, we just might be living in underwater cities. :) Sine we will survive, and likely remain the dominant species, what would "starting a new era" achieve? When the dinosaurs went extinct, mammals were allowed to develop into creatures such as ourselves. In this case, it will be the potential underdog competitors going extinct, not us.
