No.

Lowering the age to 16 would just poison our youth even more than it already has. /sarcasm

Honestly, drinking should be a moral thing. Obviously we couldn't have 10 year olds running around drinking; but I think that after a certain age it should be allowed. I was thinking more like 18 (damn you Australians >=/). 16 is still a little young.

You're not gone? OLE!

And 16 sounds like a good age' date=' you kidneys and livers have fully developed.

Lolno.

True fact: Your body (Kidney's and Liver's inclusive) cannot fully handle Alcohol until the age of 25. Drinking Alcohol outside the grounds of Moderation will result in damage if you're sixteen.

Although, law's to the same effect as this one, basically, law's that restrict consumption, are usually only viewed as a recommendation by minor's. Not actually something to be upholstered by. =/.

Which just means you can tamper with different Age abiding laws, but almost certainly, people will still do so. So basically, remove the Age Drinking limit, but keep the buying and selling of Alcohol laws for minors. However, if a minor drink's whilst knowingly accepting the consequences of such action, not just because they can, it shouldn't be viewed as morally wrong by any means.

I think it would be a good idea to change the drinking age. For those of you who say the rates of teen auto accidents would increase, raise the driving age. See? Problem solved.

16 is too young

then you get drunks terrorizing young kids and old people

anti-social behaviour

stupid idea

Fortunately, not everyone is stupid and not everyone has anti-social personality disorder. Thank's for playing. Better luck next time.

Wow your amazingly clever =O

So I can drink and get drunk at 16 but I won't be able to drive. "Solving" a problem by causing another is dumb.

I still don't see a problem. Its not like it would make any difference. Even make the BAL (blood alcohol level) lower for teens. I'm fine with that. There is no problem with drinking in moderation.

Yes, cause you can control how much alcohol your body can take. Alcohol is harmful to your body whether it's in "moderation" or not >.>

Sure you can. You just can't do both at the same time.

It really shouldn't be lowered at all. It's just encouraging those who do drink at a younger age and promotes it further through those who otherwise wouldn't drink.

The logic amongst them would work out that if they are allowing kids younger than before to drink it, that means it has to be safe enough or they otherwise wouldn't. That would even encourage children to drink at younger and younger ages, thus possibly leading to a domino effect of constantly lowering the age till we can't anymore.

Those who do drink underage suffer problems later in life unless they drink in a small, controlled amount. Though there are not many of them, there are a few who can control themselves and are perfectly fine as they are with the current laws.

And where is this logic that "they're alredy doing it anyway, so why not legalize" come from? The idea behind the laws is for the safety of the public and for ourselves. We shouldn't encourage younger people to drink. Hell, I personally want to raise the age or at least make the laws stricter.
