「tea.leaf」
I'm going to share one of my beliefs today. There is a direct relationship between one's physical appearance and character. Essentially, this means you can tell a good lot about someone by the way they look; it just takes a bit of analytical thinking. Obviously, as with any form of analysis, this is not perfect, and thus cannot reveal EVERY detail; some things a person can hide, but those are usually little irrelevant secrets that would lead to a whole of butthurt and drama if revealed. tl;dr: Your looks = Your character Use solid reasoning if you care to disagree. ragnarok1945
if you've known a person for only a few min, you cannot possiblity know his or her entire nature simply via look
Larxene
For the most part, I agree. There are always exceptions. =)
ragnarok1945
TL, some people are very good at hiding things you can't see in minutes. I admit there are some people I can see what they're like via looks, but most require I talk to them for a little bit or observe what they do
Jericho
A lot of the time, looks do correlate to character. I am however an exception. I look like crap, by which I mean I neglect my appearance, but I have good character, morals, ethics, ect. And I stick to them.
「tea.leaf」
TL' date=' some people are very good at hiding things you can't see in minutes. I admit there are some people I can see what they're like via looks, but most require I talk to them for a little bit or observe what they do[/quote'] Obviously, observation is required; interaction is not. People are not good at hiding things; you just have to know how to look. A lot of the time' date=' looks do correlate to character. I am however an exception. I look like crap, by which I mean I neglect my appearance, but I have good character, morals, ethics, ect. (In this case, friends do not count, because ugly people have friends, too.)
ragnarok1945
there are times when interaction is needed, TL. Again, it depends on how much time passes by
Frlf
''You are what you eat''Pretty much with looks. Decided people are in good shape and look good, they are happy with themselves, and they would have a high self esteem. Most not such good looking people have low self esteem, mostly won't practice sports, ect. There are some cases wich is different tough.
Brentxbanshee
I totally agree, some people would look at my septum ring and long hair and be like whoa hes a punk but I carry myself very well and im always clean shaven and smile everywhere I am. I have a sunny dispisition and people can tell im a positive person even with the assumptions.
ragnarok1945
it also depends on how they are brought up (I'm not exactly what you call in shape and was brought up wrong, but I still strive to be a better person)
Flame Dragon
This could be the case for some people, but I don't think it is for most. Example, TAG looked like a hippy for some time. He is not a hippy.

You can't take things at face value; you have to analyze every detail and see how it relates to their personality. This is essentially what American English courses try to teach, except you don't know it because they like wrapping things up.

ragnarok1945
yeah yeah, that famous quote. There's also the saying there's usually more than what meets the eye. That's why I'm not convinced you can use physical appearance to judge character[/quote'] Again, you're not providing any reasoning. Whoever came up with "there's more than meets the eye" must not have been a very insightful person. There's only more than what you see when you do not see. 「tea.leaf」
what you see physically does not represent ALL forms of seeing Yes it does. Every single aspect of a human being is interconnected. Thus, from physical aspects, other aspects can be derived through deductive reasoning. A human may not work in logical ways, but it certainly portrays itself so.
