Lemniscate
Well, I have been looking at the meta and realizing that the game has really sped-up. With the creation of cards like Destiny Draw and Trade-in, the meta has reached a point were the speed of games is almost ridiculous. This leads me to the question, which is better slower or faster? Was the game better before players where able to draw fast and get their heavy hitters out early, or is the speeding-up of the game a neccessary evolution to make the game more enjoyable? Also, does the increase in game speed make it harder for those who want to join, to join. They lose duels often and fast, so does that make them more or less likely to stay and continue to play Yu-Gi-Oh? Has Konami made a mistake or done the right thing is speeding up the game? Abstract [Atrocity]
It's worse for new players; buy a structure deck, enter a tournie, get whomped by 2 DAD on turn 3. This means fun decks don't have a chance. Harpies, Frogs, Fish, whatever, could never win a tourney against multiple LS, DAD, Zombie and GB decks (lol, my locals)
Exiro
Personally, I'd enjoy a slow meta with some broken cards (like CotH, but not things like CCV or Delinquent Duo) allowed.I like slow because if deck =/= hand, there's more variety in the cards being played every time. Skuldur
A slow meta offers more variety, this game has sped up to a part where the player who starts most likely wins.
Akira
Slower formats require greater skill and knowledge of the game when you're playing at a higher level. Formats that are on crack like this one are just luck sack.

Aximil
i liek it slow and hard...wait this was about yugioh o_O? I totally agree with him. ^_^ Anyways, it honestly doesn't matter to me. I make competitive Tele-DAD, LS, and GB run very slowly most of the time. But, I have a deck depending on what speed my opponent has. Wetlands, Crystal Beasts, Lightsworns. I would love to see the metas slow down though. It's no fun killing the opponent in 2 turns. I like games to last. So they're fun.
TwistedFlameApe
I liked the slow meta more. i could use some of my favorite cards like blue-eyes and gate guardian. this new fast meta makes it impossible to do that anymore. plus it discourages new players to get into yu-gi-oh unless its at home duels only (like i often do with my brother). my g/f is just starting to get into it, no way in hell can i take her to any kind of competative dueling place. Azure
YES, they have done the right thing by speeding the game up. The people who are the ones who are beening attacked bye these strong monsters have to make there deck full of defence cards so they can even stay in the duel for more tan 2 turns! Yes it is harder for people to join and be good, but if they get good cards and good card combos they can be good too.

armageddon08
I'dd like the Meta to be slower so there would be a lot more players. I'm referring to the first post about noobs losing to 2 DADs and then quitting. This is why Yu Gi Oh doesn't have as much players as it used to. Aximil
^Because most players only care about winning? I honestly hate people like that. IT'S JUST A CHILDREN'S CARD GAME!!! Seriously, some kid over in Corvallis was supposedly the "Best Duelist There". I went there for a tournament and bashed him into the ground. A couple months later, him and his family moved to my town. It turns out that I met him again. So, he challenged me, saying all this stuff about training to be able to get revenge against me for making him a laughing stock. On the third turn, I finished him off. The next day, when he came to school, he was dressed in all black, kept to himself and didn't talk much, and had cuts all over his arms and legs. He also burned his cards the night I beat him again. He's been like that ever since.

It was an ass trying to get my Dark Armed Dragon, and now that i have it, i nuke the field so quickly with it people don't want to duel me with it anymore. Good cards are expensive and rare as hell, good combos are constantly being banned (my favorite was Gearfried-Iron, Butterfly Dagger and Royal Magical Library in my exodia deck) meaning the only way anyone can play anymore is with nuke decks. If you don't have a nuke deck, you are just a 2 turn duelist. people dont trade the nuking cards because of how strong and how difficult-to-get they are. A monster with high defense isn't going to survive against Norleras or D.A.D. I love fast paced dueling but only if im playing a fast-paced duelist. i miss the old days when cards like Metalzoa, Sanga Of The Thunder, Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon, and BEWD had a prescence in dueling. GenzoTheHarpist
Last Turn OTK? A real problem with everything being so fast is that anti-meta decks that slow things down need certain systems to be set up to win. So they won't ever win going second since the opponent can do the bulk of his moves on the opening turn before there's a system to restrict him set up.
Lemniscate
Exactly, it makes anti-meta decks harder to pull off because they have to go first and set up their combos, or they will be killed by the uber-fast deck they are battling.
