Christmas - The excellence and wonderfulness of it.

What makes Christmas so special? Is it the wonderful songs the carolers sing? Is it the beautiful white snow glistening in the wind? Is it the waiting of the presents? Is it the wonderfulness of hot cocoa? Is it the great feelings of being with the ones you love? What exactly brings "Christmas Joy" to you? For me, well, it's just about everything I just listed.

It's not the presents alone that do it. I mean, there are just a few things I would like to have, but I'm not a greedy person. What I like is watching the amazing white snow glistening in the sky while I drink hot cocoa. Or while I'm just having a good laugh with my family.

I just love December, the month of excellence.

The month of joy.

The month to thrive.

So what? Here in the US southwestern states it's a complete desert. I haven't seen snow for almost 15 years already' date=' and it has been almost 25 years since the last time it snowed at all here.

I live in San Diego, and it's not a complete desert. It snowed last year, and we're part of the southwestern United States as well.

Yeah' date=' same with when I used to live in Phoenix AZ, the report I read on there not snowing for 25 years was probably wrong though.

Some people say it did snow there in the early 90s.

I'm sorry, I'm failing to understand the content of your posts.

You say that it hasn't snowed for 25 years?

Yet, it snowed in the early 90s?

Best part for me is probably actually all eating at the dinning table, Christmas and New Years are probably the only time we all sit at the dinning table together, usually its just me and my sister, and my parents sit in the front room, with my Yorkie drifting between rooms. (Following the food usually)

Nice thing is we usually see our family alot during Christmas, this year my Uncle and Gran are coming around maybe with my 3 year old cousin (Depends if my Uncle can get my cousin's mother to let him have him early). Granted my other Uncles I barely ever see coz 2 of them live in Scotland over 6 hours away, another lives in Manchester

I don't think I've ever had a white christmas....I think we nearly had one but the snow never settled.

Christmas used to be a big thing when I was a child. We would all gather at my grandmother's house, open the presents, then all sit together for a nice Christmas meal. Those were the nice days...

Now that my grandmother and several other family members have passed on, my family just doesn't get excited about the holidays anymore. Mostly, it is just for the grandchildren and such (just to see their happy faces when they open their presents).

I enjoyed the good old days and sorely miss them. Now Christmas just feels like another day to my family. I still try to get small gifts for my friends and such.

I remember having a white Christmas every year when I lived in Alaska (for 7 years). I haven't seen a white Christmas since I moved to Louisiana...

Really? I usually hate dinners like that for only one reason: Dressing up. My family makes everyone dress up for Thanksgiving/Christmas/Whatever. I just hate it. I mean, I like the food, I just hate dressing up. I love everything about Christmas, except dressing up.

Not bad, Cinder. Me, I never really favored family dinners because of the nonstop questioning

For me it's just the family get together (and also seeing what my friends/family got for Christmas). My family uses agrues and get mad most of the year and Christmas is really the only time we get together.

I live in the south, so it doesn't snow here. I saw snow (my first and only time seeing snow) back in 2000-2001, but that was only a few inches and didn't last long. I haven't seen any since.

Also, I hate dressing up to. I like to be messy looking (but I like to keep things clean, like my room), but my family, on the holidays, always make us dress up to take pictures. I hate taking pictures.

Anyway, I just like getting together and talk about stuff. And me and my friend usually play sports until it's time to eat and open presents (I remember last year, me and my friends played football in 20-30 degree weather. My family thought we were crazy for doing that.)
