[spoiler=Card Lore / Backstory]

The ancient citadel of Damascus, capital of the glorious empire of Arcaea, was completely annihilated ages ago during a surprise offensive by the cunning Boreans. The citadel's gate was protected by five seals, each of whom was guarded by a separate Celestial. The Celestial were divine spirits of wrath, oathbound to serve the Arcaeans. With them possessing powers beyond the realm of mortality, having five Celestials as their gatekeepers served to appease the Arcaeans even during the final stages of the siege - such confidence proved their downfall, as the Boreans brought their own potent weapons to counter the Arcaean heaviest lines of defense. Once the second seal was breached, the Third Seal, Mor'Gaine the Twilight Strydent did battle with the Borean Overlord Hysshgarroth, who rode his giant Manticore Naxtras into the duel. Though Mor'Gaine was poisoned by the Manticore's magic-sealing sting, she activated her Celestial Force - the Azure Star - and turned the tide of the battle, destroying all of the Borean standing forces and fatally wounding their leader. It was to her utter surprise that Hysshgarroth drew his black sword, the one that would come to be known as the Bane of Damascus, and summoned a spell from within - it was none other than the Gemini Dream, the Celestial Force of Lilliane, the First Seal and Mor'Gaine's twin sister. Whilst the invader recuperated his wounds with the foreign power, Mor'Gaine's resolution shattered in front of the realization that her sister had not only been killed, but had her eternal soul forever sealed within the confines of that dark blade, and all thoughts of defense fled from her aching heart as the Bane of Damascus drew through it, destroying the great Celestial. Though Hyssgarroth was too tired from their fight to call upon its powers to drain Mor'Gaine's soul, that was more of a curse than a blessing, for Mor'Gaine's spirit, bound from the pain of loss to the mortal realm, lingered forever, even after the invaders were gone and the ruins of Damascus were nothing more than dust in the wind and the memory of the citadel's fall was lost in the depths of time, a mad guardian of a ghost city, always grieving, always seeking to destroy him who took everything away from her, unaware that he has been dead for over a million years...

Twilight Nemesis is the spirit of Twilight Strydent, the Celestial Mor'Gaine. Most of her Celestial powers were lost after she died, but she did retain some of her capabilities, such as a corrupted version of her Celestial Force, the Tainted Azure Star, and a perversion of her old ability to soothe the minds of others that allows her to control negative emotions in mortal minds and cause them to rapidly descent into madness.

[spoiler=Effect]

This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell card, "Celestial Grief".

This monster cannot be attacked except by monsters with less than 0 ATK points. This monster cannot attack except other monsters with less than 0 ATK points. This monster can attack the opponent directly. If this monster attacks the opponent directly, this monster's ATK is multiplied by -1 until the end of the Damage Step.

If a monster on your opponent's side of the field destroys a monster on your side of the field as a result of battle while this card is face-up on your side of the field, flip a coin and call it. If you call it right, that monster's ATK is reduced to -100 until your opponent's next Standby Phase.

This monster cannot be Special Summoned from your Graveyard.

Once during your turn, you can pay 1,000 Life Points to select 1 "Tainted Azure Star" from your deck and add it to your hand.

[spoiler=Notes]

The story for this card is the (end of the) story for a character in a piece of fiction I've been writing. The original name of the person depicted in the card before her demise, Mor'Gaine, is inspired from the Arthurian legends.

The effect may seem lengthy, but split into five parts, it's easy to understand that it's not much to frown upon. The first two parts are just regulations for the card mechanics - the Ritual and the negative attack power mechanic which I decided to implement. The idea behind the negative attack power mechanic also stems from my work. The dead that linger in this world reside in a separate plane of existence which cannot be interacted with by creatures on the material plane, though some are able to affect the other 'dimension', so to speak, with certain abilities. The whole concept is also demonstrated in point 3 - as mentioned in the lore, the Twilight Nemesis has the power to drag the minds of her victims into madness and destroy them. The requirement reflects the need for the mind to be troubled or under stress, for her to be able to afflict it. The fourth part simply means that, as a lingering spirit, she cannot be revived normally if banished. And the last part reflects her unique ability in the form of a Spell card she is able to call upon at will.

Though there are three other cards 'bound' to this one, so to speak, Celestial Grief - the Ritual - and Tainted Azure Scar, I did not see any point in presenting them here since the contest only requires this one card. If requested, I will put them up along with my entry.
