Not familier with what Bel looks like, the hair maybe.

I really don't like the outcome of that sprite, now that I look at it.

Spider Pig=Fave Green Day=2nd Fave

Ok then!

I haz request if you want one.

I've updated with the very first (and currently the only) entry to my Fakemon Pokedex. To be frank, I'm just looking at improvement.

To those of you advanced spriters, I know all of his boreders are black, I'm not fixing that anytime soon so don't bother bringing it up as a main point.

Although I've refrained from doing critique around YCM anymore, I think you deserve some.

The newest fakemon is very nicely done. I like it, and it has some really nice points to it. It though is not void of errors.

The first error I'd like to point out is light source. I can't even tell where it's coming from. The upper spikes imply the usualy light source direction being from the top left. However the two large crystal arms completely change this idea. The shading looks cool, but it doesn't make sense.

I also have a ard time figure what its body is exactly. I can get that the large crystals are on his arms, and that his head is covered in crystals that are like hair. I don't get though where the body and legs are. I don't know if it's suppose to be a floating creature, or if it dose have legs somewher. The body is odd too, especially that bllue thing in the middle. I want to asssume it's a spike coming out of his chest, but it doesn't look like that.

Perspective is also off too in my opinion. The crystal on our left almost seems smaller or the same size as the one on the right. With how the guy is positioned, the one farther back should be the smaller one, aka the right one.

I hope you don't mind, but I decided to go and do a bit of editing to the sprite. I circled that 'spike' things I was confused about on the body. I also went and editted the left crystal and added a top left light source to it. Now although I like the style of shading you chose, it doesn't exactly seem right. With shading, in general, flat surfaces don't have such a rounded shading to it. They usually remain about one color per surface. Example of this are like Basitodon, or Brozor. Normally flat shading is bad, since most things have form, but if the sprited object is flat, then flat shading should probably be used.

After doing the edit and looking at it though, I do realize with your sprite that your crystals aren't too flat boarder-wise. The boardering is rigid and not totally uniformed, which would mean you'd be right to not go for a more flat type of shading. However being made of crystal, crystal rarely are rounded. If they aren't totally flat, they still have a lot of straightness to it. Look at Regice for example. The last bit of shading I have to point out is depth. With something like a crystal, they are sometimes seethrough. If this is the case with yours, there are other things that have to be taken into account. With partially transparent crystals, one has to consider how thick they. The thicker the area, the darker the shading. if something solid is on the other side of the crystal, then that area should also be darkened. Where it is thin and light can shine straight through, it should very lightly shaded.

Now with all that out of the way, I do wonder if you are aiming for the pokemon style with spriting. There are always huge debates amongst spriters wether fakemon should try and follow the usual style of Pokemon. Some people prefer to try out their own style, while others say that a Fakemon should match the same style. I personally try to imitate the style, but I don't think everyone has to. If you do concern yourself with keeping it in style, then there are a few things you'd need to fix up. The sprite isn't facing towards the left like they normally do, and your shading doesn't quite match Pokemon style either. The light source also is generally from the top left.

Well I hope you find this critique useful. I of course in no way mean to put you down, and I'm not saying I don't like the Fakemon. I think the little guy looks cool, and it's in no way bad at all.
