Benraino
Warrior Toolbox by Benraino, with acknowledgement to Steve of yugiohetc.com. Pm me if you want his article (which is far superior to mine). Warrior Toolbox is a deck type that has existed for many years. It is well known for having many answers, or “outs” to cards and situation. It, as the name implies, uses Warriors to not only get out of bad situations, but to create unfavorable situations for your opponent. How do you do this? Well it’s simple; first let’s break down the monster lineup, as they are one of the most important parts of the deck. We will be building HeartBox, a variant of Warrior Toolbox. MONSTERS First let’s start off with the base of Heartbox, Elemental Hero Wildheart.Wildheart is used to create pressure on your opponent. Being immune to traps to helps keep him on the field. At 1500 ATK, he isn’t much of a beatstick, but combined with other cards in the deck, he becomes more useful. He is searchable by Reinforcements of the Army(more on that later), Elemental Hero Stratos, Giant Rat, Sangan, and E-Emergency Call, so that will help bring him to the field. Next, we are going to move onto another card that helps put Wildheart into your hand and is one of the best Warriors in the game, Elemental Hero Stratos. Stratos is used to get out Wildheart, primarily. After summoning him, you have an 1800 attacker who has already replaced himself when he dies. Stratos is a great opening play because it forces your opponent to deal with Stratos by A) Summon their Stratos to maintain equal advantage and Suicide or b) Waste removal on Stratos to set up plays. Even if you draw Stratos after Wildheart, he still is useful. Now onto the supporting cast. D.D. Assailant is a great support card for HeartBox. She is used in Toolbox because she puts pressure on your opponent. She does this because when she is destroyed in battle, she removes both monsters that battled. This is great because it forces opponents to either waste cards on her or removing a bigger monster from game, which this deck would love. She also has 1700 attack to boot, something this deck needs. D.D. Warrior Lady, performs just like D.D. Assailant. She is more useful then D.D. Assailant, because her effect is optional, and she does not have to be destroyed by battle. She packs 1500 attack, which means she’s searchable by Sangan. She can run into defense monsters to either removal walls like Spirit Reaper or Gladiator Beast Hopolomus or you ram her into bigger monsters(like D.D. Assailent can) and remove that threat. D.D. Warrior completes the trio. He is different than the other D.D.’s. His effect is mandatory whenever he battles. This is not as good as the others, but still useful. At 1200 attack, he can’t do much damage but is searchable by Giant Rat(Which is not run in my build, for reasons later to be explained) and Sangan, both of which are run in the deck. D.D. Crow is a utility monster. It is used to remove cards in your opponents Graveyard, like removing that Monster Reborn target, Destiny Hero – Malicious, Zombie Master’s target and keep Dark Armed Dragon and Judgment Dragon from being used. The only thing though, is its 1 time, and you have to discard from the hand. This is good, because at 100 attack and defense, it’s not going to be useful for anything other than that. Sangan’s purpose in this deck is to search out monsters to help you, as long as they are 1500 attack or less. That means we can get Wildheart, D.D. Warrior Lady and D.D. Warrior, as well as D.D. Crows. He just needs to be destroyed when he is on the field. At 1000 attack he can’t kill anything big, but fear of getting something you need makes opponents think twice. Let’s look at our lineup right now.Monsters: 123 Elemental Hero Wildheart1 Elemental Hero Stratos3 D.D. Assailant1 D.D. Warrior Lady2 D.D. Warrior1 D.D. Crow1 Sangan This is just the structure right now, let’s move on to spell traps. SPELLS Okay, the main spell card of any warrior toolbox is Reinforcements of the Army. Its effect is simple, search your deck for one level 4 or lower warrior and put it in your hand. Wow, what an amazing in a deck comprised of mainly 4 star and lower warriors. This card is used to search out answers to your opponent’s field. The next card is Shrink. Shrink halves the original attack of 1 face up monster on the field. This helps take down any big monster in battle. This can be used both offensively and defensively, and in the damage step. This helps Wildheart (and most of your monsters as well) survive battle to keep pressure. Book of Moon is a great defensive and offensive spell as well. It puts any monster into Facedown Defense position. This is great because it turns big monsters into defense and it can stop certain plays like Test Tiger + Any Gladiator Beast. Enemy Controller is also another card that wreck havoc on your opponent. Some say this is worse than Book of Moon, but it has different purposes. This card is versatile compared to Shrink, but does a completely different job. It can either switch your opponents monster position, or take control of it by tributing one of yours. This is handy because it can switch big monsters to defense so you kill them with their smaller defenses or swing for game(by taking them). Now for some staples. Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon, Brain Control and Monster Reborn are pretty self explanatory. If you don’t understand why, please leave. Let’s take a look at the deck right now.Monsters: 123 Elemental Hero Wildheart1 Elemental Hero Stratos3 D.D. Assailant1 D.D. Warrior Lady2 D.D. Warrior1 D.D. Crow1 Sangan Spells: 143 Reinforcements of the Army3 Shrink2 Book of Moon2 Enemy Controller1 Heavy Storm1 Mystical space Typhoon1 Brain Control1 Monster Reborn So we have 28 cards, which leaves us with 12 cards, and with just traps to go through we should be good. TRAPS Solemn Judgment can single handlily turn a game around for you. It can negate ANY card, by paying half of your lifepoints. It takes skill to activate Solemn Judgment correctly, but doing so can help cement your victory. Torrential Tribute wipes the clean field of monsters. Pretty nifty right? Well, Elemental Hero Wildheart makes it sweeter. He stays on the field after Torrential Tribute is activated, and you can summon him and chain Torrential Tribute to swing directly. Mirror Force, like Torrential Tribute, hurts your opponent a lot. Destroying all attack position monsters is powerful and in this deck, keeping your monsters and maintain presence (and thus pressure) is important. Bottomless Trap Hole also destroys and removes from game monsters, if they have 1500 attack or more. This allows your monsters to stay on the field and attack, which is vital to your strategy. So, let’s take a look at our deck, shall we? Monsters: 123 Elemental Hero Wildheart1 Elemental Hero Stratos3 D.D. Assailant1 D.D. Warrior Lady2 D.D. Warrior1 D.D. Crow1 SanganSpells: 143 Reinforcements of the Army3 Shrink2 Book of Moon2 Enemy Controller1 Heavy Storm1 Mystical space Typhoon1 Brain Control1 Monster RebornTraps: 73 Solemn Judgment1 Torrential Tribute1 Mirror Force2 Bottomless Trap HoleTotal: 35 So, we have 5 slots open. This is where you can customize your deck. I personally like Exiled Force, another strong choice. So you can fill up 1 or 2 spots. Ehren, Lightsworn Monk kills defense mode for your opponent, but can harm the deck with more than 1. The Warrior Returning alive also lets you nab an in grave warrior and put it back in your hand. This deck may seem simple and easy to run, but you will be more successful by understanding how this deck works in its entirety. You must maintain card advantage and pressure, with that you will lose to decks because you wasted valuble resources. Knowing what cards to use when is vital to this deck. This deck is slow, so it can't compete with the likes of TeleDaD and LS. Good Luck. Questions? PM me them, so I can efficiently answer them.
