Guest PikaPerson01
Depends on the deck, though I find Ryko is decent enough to main in most decks, and Lyla can make for a mildly decent side deck card.
Skarlet
"in General" was in the first post, this refers to simply over all asd opposed to specific decks
Mr. Judgment Dragon
D-Heroes by themselves dont work anywhere near as well as Lightsworns, even with the advantage of 2 extra sets of draw spells. CONCLUSION: LS by themselves >>>> D-Heroes by themselves.
Skarlet
once again you are missing the point, this topic discusses using them as TECH - SPLASHING them
Exiro
I prefer LS because, in addition to speeding up my deck by draws as well as mills, they offer answers to any kind of situation, which is just what I need in addition to the strategy my deck already has. D-Heroes are more the type of guys that enhance my strategy, for example getting Synchros/Monarchs out with Malicious, using Diamond Dewd w/ Zombie Carrier to use cards w/o costs, etc.
Skarlet
oh god the sheer draw power, solemns, and allures, and solars, holy god that's gotta be fast
Mr. Judgment Dragon
once again you are missing the point' date=' this topic discusses using them as TECH - SPLASHING them[/quote'] Well then, it really depends on what you are after. For DAD-based Decks, I would usually throw in around 6 D-Heroes (3 Malicious, and 3 of something else) as well as a set of Allures and D-Draws as the base. If I feel I need more draw power like in a Turbo Draw Exodia Deck I would throw in 3 Plasmas and 3 Dogmas as well as 3 Allures, 3 D-Draws and 3 Trade-Ins. If I need more chances of getting possible discard fodder, I would throw Dreadmaster in as well solely for the draw power. If I need a degree of control, 3 Malicious instead of Dreadmaster as well as a CCV could do the trick. Of course Stratos is not and should not be ignored when using D-Heroes. Lightsworns have the power to add excellent speed and usefulness at the same time. Lyla and Ryko are the most splashable ones. 3 Lylas and 2 Rykos (3 is too much) as well as 3 Recharges are the standard for more speed IMO. 2 or 3 Charges could be thrown in for searching power if needed. Additional mill as well as a new card in my hand that could be used for discard fodder (usually for Recharge) or for removal. If I need some variation, I would add other Lightsworns to suit the type of Deck. For a Dragon-based Deck, Gragonith as well as the standard would do the trick. 1 additional Dragon in the Graveyard, 2 new cards in my hand, and potentially 2 additional Dragons in the Graveyard. Gragonith of course could not normally be thrown into any Deck for more speed. Leveling affects its searchability and the effect isn't exactly reliable. Splashables: For LS: 3x Lyla, LS Sorceress2x Ryko, LS Hunter3x Solar Recharge2x or 3x Charge of the Light Brigade For D-Heroes: Turbo Draw: 3x D-Hero - Plasma3x D-Hero - Dogma3x D-Hero - Dreadmaster1x E-Hero Stratos3x Allure3x D-Draw3x Trade-In Quick Draw w/ some Control: 3x D-Hero - Plasma3x D-Hero - Dogma3x D-Hero - Malicious1x E-Hero Stratos3x Allure3x D-Draw3x Trade-In1x CCV Synchro: 3x D-Hero - Malicious1x or 2x D-Hero - Doom Lord1x or 2x D-Hero - Diamond Dude1x E-Hero Stratos3x Allure3x D-Draw1x CCV LS is sorta more clear cut. Those cards could be used in almost any Deck mainly due to the fact the effects are similar to that of existing cards outside the LS archetype. Example: Lyla = LS equivalent of Breaker, Ryko = LS equivalent of OVM, Solar Recharge = LS equivalent of D-Draw, CotLB = LS equivalent of RotA. The Lightsworn engine can still be adjusted to fit a certain Deck. D-Heroes have more options and can be adapted to most deck strategies. The Synchro Draw engine is sorta the one TeleDAD uses. These 2 have one thing in common. They can both essentially be used to speed the Deck up. The real difference is how they do it. LS mills as well as draws and the D-Hero archetype draws using one of its 2 or 3 draw spells. Lets see their strengths and weaknesses: LS: Strengths: Search Spell that is UnlimitedSelf Milling can be beneficial if done properlyThey have their own Draw SpellEffects of the good ones (Lyla and Ryko in particular) are useful in more than one wayWarrior-type LS have access to RotA as an instant search card Weaknesses: Self milling can hurt if done recklessly (not really a weakness but more of a warning)No instant searchability for the higher level LS (not really an issue since Celestia isnt really used outside of LS and Gragonith has very limited viable deck placement options) D-Heroes: Strengths: They all are compatible with at least 2 draw Spells (Allure of Darkness and D-Draw)The higher Level D-Heroes (Level 8 ones in particular) that can be used with up to 3 Draw Spells (Same as above + Trade-In)Lower level D-Heroes (Level 4 or lower have access to RotA)Higher level D-Heroes can be searched instantly Weaknesses: Searchability of higher leveled D-Heroes is literally Limited (E-Hero Stratos)Very few easily summonable D-Heroes have useful effects (Doom Lord, Diamond Dude and Malicious are exceptions to this. Disk Commander doesnt count as it is banned) Its hard to say which one is better but again, one set of archetype specific cards can be the better option in a certain deck. CrabHelmet
D-Heroes require a more extensive engine. It largely depends on where you draw the line between "splashing" and "making an integral part of the deck".
