Ideal starting hands

Recommended Posts

I was just watching some old episodes of yugioh, and I was thinking about some duels where people win in the first or second turn. It made me think about opening hands that could win a duel in the TCG. It would be a lot harder in the TCG because most duels start with 8000 Life points apiece, but theirin lies the challenge!

So I put it to you to come up with an ideal opening hand that could win a duel on your first turn and then how you would use them. Drawing cards can be included if necessary (which most of the time it would be) as long as you name the cards you would draw, banlists do not apply, but they need to be TCG cards. Any combo involving exodia would be very unimaginitive, and so I would recommend avoiding it unless it's REALLY good. It's probably necessary to take your first turn after your opponent, but any "proper first turn" wins would be spectacular, and are encouraged. This is my example;

Opening hand: 2 x Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Ancient Rules, Megamorph, and Premature Burial

Opponent sets one monster and ends turn.

I draw Twin Swords of Flashing Light- Tryce. I play Ancient Rules and special summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon. I equip Twin Swords of Flashing Light- Tryce to BEWD, discard a BEWD and lower it's ATK by 500. I play Premature Burial, pay 800 Life Points and resurrect BEWD. I equip Megamorph to BEWD, and with its effect because my Life Points are lower BEWD's ATK is doubled to 6000. I attack with the first BEWD, destroying the face-down monster (as long as it has <2500 DEF, and doesn't have a destructive flip effect). I attack with my second BEWD, inflicting 6000 damage. I then use Twin Swords of Flashing Light- Tryce's effect to attack again with my first BEWD, inflicting 2500 damage and winning the duel.

Ok, now it's your turn.

Imperial Iron Wall, Foolish Burial, Future Fusion, Card of Safe Return, Solemn.

Set Imperial Iron Wall. Use Foolish to dump a Plaguespreader in the Graveyard, and use Future Fusion to send Cyber Dragon and three Quillbolt Hedgehogs to the Graveyard.(Target: CFD) Set Solemn and end turn.

Assuming that Imperial Iron Wall survived, I activate it and Card of Safe Return. Summon my Plaguespreader and Quills, draw four cards. Synchro and repeat.

Result: Two Stardust Dragons and two Goyo Guardians out by the end of second main phase, along with 4 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 cards with CosR - 5 cards returned to decktop by Plaguespreader = 14 cards.

4-card 2TK is fun.

Other than that:

1 Summon Priest.

Also' date=' to the guy who said four pieces of exodia and then shapesnatch (a normal monster!).

I Lol'd.

In this case, your opponent already went.

Giant Trunade, Destiny Draw, E-Tele, DAD, E-Tele, Stratos.

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out how this works.

Remind me what "DAD" is again, please, I have no idea!

Yeah I agree' date=' seriously, did some of you not read what I said in the first post? I said any combo involving exodia would be very unimaginitive, and so is not recommended. Also, to the guy who said four pieces of exodia and then shapesnatch (a normal monster!). How does that work?

Easily. I draw one card and activate Allure of Darkness. I draw two cards and remove from play Right Arm. I use two more Allures that I drew and remove from play the two legs. I should now have Shapesnatch, Right Arm, Malicious, D-Draw, E-Teleport, and another Shapesnatch. I activate D-Draw on Malicious. Then I remove the Malicious from play to special summon one. I then E-Tele Krebons and synchro for Stardust. I then get another malicious and activate another E-Tele, getting Red Dragon Archfiend. Finally, activate Double Summon and tribute the two synchros for two Shapesnatches. Game and match.

A bit obvious, but I realize [the description] is for the benefit of other members.

Ugh, newbies…

I'll give you a hint:

Lilacs grow in the summer breeze

They are free of rotten fleas

But inside the walls of Redwall Abby, if thou actually checks and looks

You'll find one of the hundreds of hidden passages in little nooks

But be careful which one you select, it's the one covered by a vine

The one underneath the floor is for a different plotline

Ok, tell me how to win with two monsters with 1200 ATK each. If you do that, I shall surrender to your intellectual superiority. If not, stop quoting "Redwall" and stop mocking.

Hint # 2

If you still don't understand the OTK, you're not worth my time.

Look, it's not a OTK. What you have is a field with two Level 5 1200 ATK normal monsters, no spells and traps, two brilliant synchro monsters in the graveyard with no imminent way of being brought back, along with two tuners, malicious and a few spells, and 5 monsters removed from play. I'm certain I'm not missing something, so how is it a OTK?
