Not all metal is screaming (the latter is generally reffered to a 'Scremo') and takes time to master safely (it can reck your voicebox) It helps create a feeling on the song, such as rage (listen to Fightstar 'Deathcar' because that will give you an idea of how the writer feels when writing it.)
