MARK OF THE ROSE

Recommended Posts

Unfairly restrained card.

Not really. The thing about Brain Control-esque effects is you walk a pretty fine line between making slightly more powerful theme-support and making an unacceptable card.

The statement you quote from is made by one who believes Brain Control is non-banworthy, as well as that Mark of the Rose could be generic (that is, lose the only connection it has with Plants) without making the Rose banworthy.

Of course I knew you believed taht Brain Control is not banworthy. However, I would have thought that you would have still though a generic Mark to be banworthy.

(If you can't get rid of the monster that turn, than you just get a Brain Control every turn, assuming your opponent can't either. If your opponent gets rid of the monster, well then you forced him to prematurely dispose of a monster that would have otherwise had a more extensive time on the field. It's a win-win situation.)

God this card has lost me so many games -.-

Question cause Ive gotten 2 different answers from 2 different judges. If I play Mark of the Rose and target my opponents Breaker which has a spell counter on it, can I use breakers ability to destroy the mark and keep the Breaker since the Mark never gave it back to my opponent?

That's version #1.

There's also version #2: that your opponent will just try to inflict more damage while Mark of the Rose is active. Without the necessary infrastructure to prevent your opponent from inflicting more damage to your LP via Mark... you know the drill. Somethin' observed also in well-built Begone, Knave builds (if you know what I'm talkin' 'bout here).

I'm thinkin' you're not exactly at home with a generic Rose...

No. Breaker goes back to the controller before MotR was played.
