Good and evil are never set in stone, they are always interpretations. I could think murdering is a "bad deed" (so to speak), while a serial killer or an extremist could think killing is a "good dead" (so to speak).

That was obviously sarcasm.

I love Willeh. :O

ARE YOU GONNA IMPLY THAT GOOD AND EVIL IS JUST SOMETHING HUMANS MADE UP TO DEVIATE THEMSELVES FURTHER FROM OTHERS!?!?!?

...Well, you're right! Everyone has an opinion on good and evil.

Everybody has an opinion on what is good and evil.

However, good and evil are not personal opinions on a larger scale. Good and evil are obviously already predetermined, regardless of what your personal opinion is.

^Not really 'predetermined'. I think it's mainly influenced by those around you' date=' their beliefs, etc.

Of course, you can always decide what is 'right' and 'wrong' yourself. However, 'right' is just convienence to everyone. Who knows, the current 'right' for this world can actually be bad!

Well. All I'm saying is that if someone goes around murdering people for no benefit, then it's definitely not good. No matter what your mindset is.

Is it even possible to murder someone with no benefit? Even insane people would see some sort of benefit in the killing...

I don't consider personal benefit when we're discussing good and evil.

Just because killing isn't directly benefit the killer' date=' dosen't make it bad. They could be killing for a greater, unselfish purpose. The tv show "Death Note" is a good example of this. Kira is killing criminals.(Assume that he dosen't want to be a god, for a moment)

I'm pretty sure that claiming Light is morally correct automatically results in all of your opinions being summarily ignored. Remember that Light's goal is to create a world where merely being accused of laziness or jaywalking results in instant death.

Jaywalking is ILLEGAL' date='

[/quote']

The fact that you consider this to be a valid argument is rather disturbing.

and I don't think he killed lazy people!

He didn't get around to it' date=' but it was explicitly stated that that was his plan. Remember, when Teru-as-Kira announced that he was going to kill lazy people, Light's response was not that Teru was wrong but rather that Teru was thinking exactly like him but was moving too quickly.

...But anyway willeh, someone could kill for a # or reasons, but to them it could be a sign of greatness.

Yes, but killing is like jaywalking in the sense that it is ILLEGAL.

Anyhow, this pretty quickly descends into the morality of Gilgamesh from Fate/stay night. Gilgamesh's philosophy is that he's the most awesome dude ever born, so everything he does is automatically good simply because he did it.

A better example would be suicide bombers. They are brainwashed into believing that death and murder brings a blissful afterlife.

Even if your description were accurate (which is itself a laughable claim)' date=' the implication would be that [i']being the victim of brainwashing[/i] is evil, whereas naturally being a self-important murderer is good. This cannot be true, since both of these are equally ILLEGAL.

There is no one in this world that can say they are 100% good. They'd be lying.

No one can say that the power of t Temptation hasn't made them think about their morals. NO ONE. Not even church-goers.(Not a religious statement)

I agree with him. Each of us has the potential to do good or evil. It's up to you which one you choose. Also, it depends upon the person how can they define "good" or "evil". Some things that a person may consider as bad may be considered as good by another.

@CH' date=' if it's illegal you should die. End of story.

[/quote']

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life.

Ever.

I'm not saying you should die from it, but it IS illegal and, why would you take a chance and do it? If you get into a car accident, you die. If you survive, Kira will kill you.

It's a no win situation. And yet, people take stupid risks(Like this) everyday.

I was talking about when you said "If it's illegal you should die", as if the government's rules are completely unquestionable and everything they say is wrong is wrong.

The death penalty is controversial enough even when applied to the most severe of crimes, to the point where much of the civilized world considers it a barbaric throwback to the old days of hanging, and you are proposing that all crime of any form should carry an immediate death penalty.

Imagine what would happen if every person who has ever broken any law ever in their life suddenly drop dead today - including jaywalking, music piracy, driving a single mile per hour over the speed limit for however short a period of time, forgetting once to use a turn signal, missing a day of school without an appropriate official excuse, viewing copyrighted content on YouTube, cheating on a test, violating any one of the millions of ludicrously detailed codes that have been made by the government, and borrowing even the smallest of items without returning it. Just ponder that.

Wouldn't 99.99% of the world be dead? You know, except the Amish people? Nah, they jaywalk.

I think I missed the turn. How did we get from good/bad as opinions into death?

@Dark, dunno.

@Crab helmet, i'm not saying that, although it would make the world more consious of their actions. i'm saying, everyone's view on good and bad is affected through a lifetime, so people already have different opinions of it. This means that 'good' and 'evil' are not any type of universal law(Or anything of that calibur). It was a human opinion. Personally, I think 'good' and 'evil' should really be 'convient and helpful, etc' and 'doing something that puts others at risk'.
