what is the best way to get better?

YVD.

Is YVD any better? Or do you still get the generic Yami/Jaden decks?

You have to be discerning as to who you face, but most people play differing versions of either anti-meta or top tier decks. A lot of people are testing for real life, as I often do.

Always try to get as many opinions and all views on a subject. Though a good amount of it will be wrong, or stupid crap jokes, even from the people who are decent duelists, try to differentiate between the good advice and the bad advice, and don't immediately blow off any advice you instinctively believe to be stupid.

What I found helps a lot is research. Not only just cards, but meta and stuff, too. Simple strategies that everyone practices. It's kind of gotten to a point with me that I can usually have a semblance of what my opponent's hand contains. Knowing the meta and practicing netdecks aren't necessarily bad. Netdecks provide great bridges to finding your niche.

Also, another thing that I've been doing recently that's sort of helped is discussing cards with others. Now, this doesn't really step my game up, but it shows me the ways that some people look at cards and can give me either new strategies or new things to look out for in a duel. Just recently I heard about recue catting out 2 samnites to contact fuse with laquari. That's nifty, and I'd never thought of that. One thing to know when you are participating in such conversations is to be confident, though. Assert yourself as someone who knows what you're talking about and are willing to give a good discussion. It's likely that's what the other guy's looking for, too. Oh, and try not to say something completely out there like "I love summoned skull. He's got 2500 attack and is only 1 tribute." That instantly turns the other guy off and kills any chance of learning.

The BEST way to improve is by playing a game of the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship series. You'll understand game mechanics because details are not skipped in these games. Even when an Optional Trigger tries to activate but misses the timing, it still explains this while you're playing.

When you think something strange happened, don't immediately think it is a bug. Find the appropriate article on Metagame.

When you've unlocked all opponents in the game, make a new deck that is supposed to become your new best deck and use it to duel Copycat with your previous best deck. Do this over and over again, until you can't improve anymore.

If you're tired of this process, feel free to start playing online with a program that has a card database that updates often enough, like YVD or DMU. Catch up with the meta and use the creativity you learned previously.

Also, I recommend you to use a cheat in the GBA/DS game you played, so that you can access the full card pool, but don't cheat any further than that. It offers you a fair chance to play through the game, which you deserve.

The Tag Force series is basically the same, 'cept I can't seem to find TF3 anywhere, which makes me sad :(

I think I've imrpoved alot just by reading card discussions and stuff.

If you have a deck idea, post it, and ask for help with it.

Sure it might be totaly ignored, sure it might end up sucking, but atleast you learned something: that deck sucks, don't use it.

But unfortunately, this site ahs a serious sarcasm problem, so asking questions and getting decent answers without people thinking you are retarded is sort of difficult :S

money

Come on' date=' come on

Listen to the money

Come on, come on

Listen to the moneytalks

Seriously, this game has become a money game in which the richest players are always the winners.

This is not true. Money only means a person may posses good cards, NOT the skill to use them properly. Money can't buy you that.

This is true. The only people that say the game is based on money are those that suck at the game and would rather have an excuse than get better.
