This monster can only attack a monster in a Monster Card Zone diagonal to the Monster Card Zone occupied by this monster. When your opponent declares a "Chess King" or "Chess Queen" that you control as an attack target, you can send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard to redirect that attack to this monster. When this monster is destroyed as a result of battle, search your deck for one copy of "Chess Pawn" and add it to your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.
This monster can only attack monsters that are two columns over from the column occupied by this monster. Negate the following effect if "Chess World" is not face-up on the field. You can only activate one "Chess Knight" each turn.
This monster can only attack a monster in a Monster Card Zone that is diagonal to the Monster Card zone occupied by this monster. When this monster destroys an opponent's monster as a result of battle, if "Chess World" is face-up on the field, you can Special Summon one level four or lower "Chess" Monster from you Deck. Destroy that monster at the End Phase.
A Normal Summon of this monster can only be conducted by Releasing two "Chess" Monsters that you control. If "Chess World" is face-up on the field, once per turn you can change this monster in face-up attack position to face-up defense position to make one other "Chess" Monster you control unable to be destroyed by battle until your opponent's next End Phase (battle damage is applied normally). Tribute one "Chess Pawn" you control to destroy one Spell or Trap card on the field.
This monster can only be Special Summoned when five "Chess" Monsters with different names are in your Graveyard. You can remove those five monsters in your Graveyard from play to add one copy of "Chess World" from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand (if taken from your deck, shuffle your deck afterward). While "Chess World" is face-up on the field, when this monster is targeted for the effect of an opponent's Spell, Trap, or Monster card, you can remove two "Chess" Monsters in your Graveyard from play and lower this monster's ATK by 300 to negate that effect and destroy the card. *here are my latest additions to this archetype, the advanced chess cards*they are sometimes harder to use, but are more powerful
This monster can only attack a monster in a Monster Card Zone diagonal to the Monster Card Zone occupied by this monster. Snitch
Mmm...they're called Archfiends mate, sorry. Good cards though. =/
legendhiro
archfiends are only named after chess pieces, not based on chess-style game play. that's why i made these effects what they are. but thanks. i guess the archfiends were a part of the inspiration for these. Force_Flex
This idea was used quite a while ago... nice Chess moves though =DIt'd go nice if you made LIGHT and DARK monsters9.1/10.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001
OrcMan321
King and rook are a bit overpowered. but otherwise cool.
legendhiro
how so? rook is entirely dependent on a field spell or he becomes useless. king is no more op'ed than light and darkness dragon and is also dependent on a field spell. but i appreciate the feedback. anyone have a rate? dorgeismydog
good cards, i agree with him, archfiend idea, but true, you did good by setting the whole chess-theme set/deck
dead draw
i like it. if i didn't know chess i'd think knight's effect was a bit confusing, though. maybe instead you should give it an effect that searches for chess world (like archfiend general or captain gold). 9.25/10 for the set

Thomas Wolf
Awsome cards. 8/10. It probably would be 9, but I made a chess set myself and so for some reason that makes me want to take the rating down.

Aelsthla-Mental
Woah... So very strange... In a good way! More like chess pieces then the archfiends, that's for sure. Apart from the names, they had little in common. But the way they only attack in specific directions... Leaves them open to a nice effect to make up for it. Kinda funny that the king is stronger then the queen though, I'd see the king with more of a support ability then protecting himself... Then again... Well, awesome job, and may I suggest a card for no adequately explained reason? "Chess Move - En Passant"!
pipipa
i dont like that the king is more powerful than the queen. the queen should be the most powerful card, though dependant on another. the king should be like 1 star with a good effect. legendhiro
thanks for the comments. the king is the most powerful because in chess he is the most important piece. i needed a way to make him the most important in this too, and the best way to do that was to make him strong. i'm working on coming up with good effects for a couple more chess moves/ultimate chess moves, so if anyone has an idea for one pm me. if i use your idea or any version of it you will be credited and you will get a rep. dead draw
like the new cards.I would have done differently with the king, though. Agreed, he is the most important piece, but therefore he should have the most powerful effect, he shouldn't be the beatstick.might I recommend cards based on "castling", "en passant", and "promotion"? that would truely complete the set.
