Brentxbanshee
why do people get so angry when people make these, this is afterall a yugioh card maker site. Is there not vanillas in the yugioh card game?
That Fat Guy
Well, when someone just makes a vanilla card and no other cards, there's not much to judge on. You can see what it's ATK/DEF is for its level and that's about it. If you're gonna create a Vanilla, at least give it some support (like DM or Red-Eyes has)

Mr. Judgment Dragon
why do people get so angry when people make these Because they're boring. Unless they have some sort of support and by support, I mean support that is not mostly terrible like we see in the Yugioh Trading Card Game, they're nothing special and dont show much creativity. Guest PikaPerson01
Gene-warped warwolf says hi. You don't even know how that "____ says hi" fad is supposed to work, so quit using it because you make yourself look like a fool. On-topic: There's not many things you can configure for a vanilla monster. Name and Pic, but no one really cares about that. Attack, Defense, Level, and funny little flavour text is pretty much all they can be judged by, and that says very little. You may have a little extra leeway, with type and attrib, and whether or not they're a Tuner, but most of the time it won't matter. tl;dr: There is VERY little originality when coming up with a monster without an effect. Brentxbanshee
Okay well those are stupid awnsers, it doesint make some one not creative for not making an effect. Not to mention its harder to come up with a bio then an effect, you can just copy the effect of another card. Ex:Flip:Destroy one face down monster.
That Fat Guy
Okay well those are stupid awnsers' date=' it doesint make some one not creative for not making an effect.[hr']Not to mention its harder to come up with a bio then an effect, you can just copy the effect of another card. Ex:Flip:Destroy one face down monster. But this is a Yugioh site. In a literary competition, vanillas may hold more merit than effect monsters, but in Yugioh, the cards are judged on how well they'd play in a game. When you make an effect monster, you have something that can be used in a way besides a monster. You have people who make up entire original subtypes and whatnot. Vanillas can be judged on 3 things. Level, ATK/DEF, and their type/element. That's it. Any critique usually comes down to "Its ATK/DEF is too high/low"
Brentxbanshee
Yeah I get why effect monsters are better but people freak when people make Vanillas, I just dont know why people are so critical.
Santi :D
People hate vanillas because: 1. In video games they don't make a funny animation when summoned or have the funny effect like any good effect monster like cocoon of evolution2. Cause the text written isn't funny or interesting to read like dark magician "the ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense". 3. They don't have any support, or good support.4. Cause the term vanilla may make some people angry.
Brentxbanshee
The term is retarted, agreed. Some bios are interesting, dark magcian is a bad example. What about BEWD.
Guest PikaPerson01
tl;dr: There is VERY little originality when coming up with a monster without an effect. Joke cards don't count. Okay well those are stupid awnsers' date=' it doesint make some one not creative for not making an effect.[/quote'] Yeah it does. There are only a handful of factors that go into it. Most are numerical. The remaining are purely aesthetic. Not to mention its harder to come up with a bio then an effect' date=' you can just copy the effect of another card. Ex:Flip:Destroy one face down monster.[/quote'] It's nowhere near as difficult as you make it seem. Furthermore, the majority of duelists aren't looking for pretty, elaborate stories. They want to see what a card can do, and "Uhh... it can attack with 1900." isn't going to cut it a lot of the time.
Brentxbanshee
Your not even awnsering my question, I dont care what you personaly like. People are so over the top when it comes to judgeing, If I make a darn vanilla for fun and post it, someone shouldent disregard is simply cause it has no effect. Its a card game people jesus..... Santi :D
I dunno why but I thought of Petit Moth, vanillas are only good with support and need a fancy name like "Cards with no effects but have decent bios which is good to read when your bored or playing a 6 year old" Also known as the following acronym: CWNEHDBWGRWYBP

Why do people overreact towards anything? But I digress... I did, however, tell you why Vanilla cards aren't enjoyed. They're not at all original or show any kind of thought that goes into the game. They're purely filler, just for some guy to say "lol, it's an 80 card set" when he got too lazy to think of 2 more cards to fill it up. I don't know why they'd be angry, per say, but I do know why Vanillas are generally frowned up.
Brentxbanshee
I guess the question cant really be awnserd, some people are just idiots who judge little childrens card and make them cry. Im not going to base what I make on this site on those people any longer, its like theres more cons to this site the pros dont even know why I come on here. Lazer Yoshi
Vanillas don't show originality. However, you can throw them in Sets n' Crap to even it out.Every set needs SOME Vanillas. Evens out the Orange Cards.
13s unlucky 1
Sadly nobody views Normies as good strategies. With good reason of course, without proper normal monster support (like a Non-Spellcasting Area for traps) there is really nothing speacil about a Normal monster.
