Tefached
There are many sites that you can find that all restrict new users for a short period of time. What happens is that when you register, you are restricted only to the introductions thread, where once you post an introduction and it is approved by a moderator, you are then free to use the site to its full potential in all threads that normal users are allowed on. Yes i know that this suggestion would require a more active mod for introductions, and possible more mods all together, but it is something that forces them to not just join and spam right off the back. No, its not the best suggestion, but its a suggestion that isn't completely retarded...completely. moneypony
With tons of new members everyday,it puts a lot of stress on mods. I also am not sure if YCMaker could code something like this... Not every member has to post in the introduction thread,i would much rather have it that your first post be in the introduction and if you don't make a thread there, you can't post for 24 hours,of course, that would still be pointless No Support
Yami-Atemu
Hmm good thing I already posted where needed before the suggestion popped up ^_^. This seems plasubile and it's very doable. Although not a lot of sites do it, it's been done and it's been done for guest too. They can't see much of anything unless they register. The problem I feel with this idea is that even if you restrict noobs (such as me) to only the introduction thread for a limited time, what's not to say they won't spam it up there (that's where I exit the picture). You don't need an entire forum to spam, just one thread is good enough. Even if it's retarted to spam there, if they want they'll do it. Add few more security provision codes to this suggestion. Not sure if it would make a difference but I support I guess

JG.
Support, most forums with that system work rather well. And for the coding, it's easy, just create a member group which all new members go in, and restrict their access to only Introductions.
∮.Ғσяgσттeи.SσℓÐιєя.∮
I lol'd.This is simple, anybody with a day's experience with MYBB would know that you can set new member's permissions specially, and move them into another usergroup when need be.YCMaker would have done this ages ago if he had found the need.Introductions is cluttered enough. No support. LiAM
Nice idea but it seems pointless Many members join each day anywayIt will stress out the modsIntroductions would be spammed and filled with new posts. Why must they post in Intro's anyway? People only generally say 'read the rules and PM me for help'. I suggest an automatic directory to the rules =/ Or an 'I agree' check-box once on the rules page to say they accept the rules of YCM. I don't support "/

SebastiaanZ
Well it would take a lot of new mods to keep an eye on it and because of it I don't think the mod team and YCMaker would approve of this idea. I do not support this.
Tefached
Its not that complicated and honestly would only require 1 or 2 new mods. The site doesn't get that many new members, we could still leave the card maker unlocked for them to use. As for the I agree check box. Most people don't even read terms of agreement things anyway so that would just be even more pointless. It wouldn't be spammed up, because the mods in charge of it could deny certain post, making it so that user couldn't post in the forum. stopping even more spam. Tefached
it would be alot of work, but with a few active mods for the section, it would work perfectly.

Felix
I support but I think some way to make them read the rules would be more benificial.
Tefached
then we could force them to read the rules and then post in the intro, but alot of people just skim or so, we could make it so the only forums they have access to is the rules and intro. its an idea in the making, but has worked for alot of sites. Larxene
No' date=' its not the best suggestion, but its a suggestion that isn't completely retarded...completely.[/quote'] Actually, it is. Preventing them from posting until they make an intro thread won't prevent them from spamming (At least until they make an intro anyway).
SebastiaanZ
It would need a bigger staff. Because when I am here online throughout the day, most of the time there are no mods online. If you want to push through this idea, new mods needs to be added. However I believe there have been added a couple last time.
Tefached
it has flaws, yea, but thats why you have mods approving them, which yea they could easily get around. So yea kinda a major flaw in it.

Flash Flyer - Sakura
I don't support, It discourages new users from posting/all that stuff. I administrate my own site AND newbies can post anywhere they're supposed to. Of course, they know the rules. I respect your opinion, Tefached, but I don't support, sorry
Tefached
thanks for the opinion, but you posted no reason against this idea. please elaborate.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
I personally don't support this idea because then if the new user could only post in the introduction, then the mods would have to worry about spamming there, because Introductions IS in the General section, so there's lot of spamming there.
