Premise: an Ordinary High School Student is granted supernatural powers to fight vampires, ghosts, zombies, and monsters in general as a Hot-Blooded Idiot Hero - essentially, rip off stuff like Bleach and Yu-Yu Hakusho.

However, the main character is not this student, but his friend, who has no supernatural powers but is constantly forced to run around fixing everything that the Idiot Hero screws up, can't accomplish, or just fails at.

I'm sorry but the idea just seemed lame to me.

Opening chapter: (vampire path)

The main character is a normal student who leads a normal life, not exceptional in anything. He/she is walking home from afterschool detention when he/she runs across a girl/boy (opposite gender) passed out on the ground in a puddle of blood. The student quickly dials 911 on their phone and tries to help the opposite gendered person. Later that night, the person who was passed out in the blood appears in the main character's window. He/she is a vampire and then proceeds to turn the main character into a vampire. The next night, the vampire returns and tells the main character about all of the great new powers.

You should make it about the band Lordi, and about their epic quest to unleash the plague of demons and zombies upon this world to reap the souls of the innocent. Or you could make a really violent samurai vs. ninja manga, and blood red could be the name of the ninja clan, as the story is told from their perspective. Well?

You can't come up with a leading title, without knowing what it will be about xD

Sir, that was a bit of a fail.

But Red Blood is to cliched. Maybe something a bit more interesting? Such as Maroon Liquid >;D Yeah, umm, nevermind...

But, maybe something about vampires, demonds, genocide, suicide, all those morbid things?

So pretty much Yu Yu Hakusho's genre combined with Haruhi Suzumiya?

As for TC's idea, Hellsing. Except, instead of vampires, it revolves around werewolves. Norse mythology is heavily referenced.

Sort of, except the problem is that the Idiot Hero is Kamina in a world that doesn't run purely on the Rule of Cool and thus isn't effective at doing his job, rather than that he constantly threatens to accidentally the entire universe. Also, the Kamina's Simon doesn't have the assistance of time travelers, espers, or aliens - at best, he might be able to at least see some spirits that are invisible to normals. And, you know, isn't secretly the real God. But I must admit, after I wrote the plot synopsis, I did think that it sounded sort of like Haruhi in a YYH setting, except with less high school and more TTGL.

Sample plot: A ghost appears and causes problems by existing or something. The Kamina tries to kill it directly throughout the story with his magical energy sword of doom or whatever, while The Simon figures out that it has unfinished business and tries to help it fulfill that business (The Kamina refuses to entertain that such a strategy might work).

Or maybe a Fire Elemental appears, and The Kamina can't kill it with regular fighting - but The Simon figures out that water can stun it briefly. The Simon then sprays it with water while it's flying above a swimming pool during its fight with The Kamina, causing it to fall into the water and fizzle.

Or maybe some sort of monster appears, and The Kamina charges in to kill it - only to find that it was a trap set by a vampire, who captures him. The Simon then needs to sneak in and free him so that The Kamina can finish off the vampire.

And when the obligatory tournament arc comes around, The Simon will be kept busy sabotaging all the opponents' attempts to cheat so that The Kamina can actually win.
