Rumia doesn't really have a rival. And I don't want to constantly stare at the name of someone I hate throughout the entire game.

My rival's name is a thing I choose based on their looks and overall hype.

With Pearl, I named my rival "Blondie."

It seemed to fit.

My rival's name is usually "Leor". Leor is my one of my best friends and we often play Pokemon together. He names his rival "Miranda", regardless if it's a guy.

 

And then we name our Pokemon after people we either really hate (to enslave them as a Pokemon forever~) or people we like (when it's a good Pokemon), or something oddly random.

 

...I have lovely friends.

RBY - I named him Gary at first, then Ass.

 

GSC - Ass again. Later, I named him Silver.

 

RSE - I named him Akito. Then there was the auto-named other "rival".

 

DPP - Akito again, though it seemed to git better with mist blondie.

 

FRLG - I named him Blue.

 

HGSS - Obviously, Eidolon. Probably my best pick yet. xD
