Brushfire
For those writers on YCM, what gets you motivated to write? When you've got a glimpse of an idea but can't think to expand on it- where do you go with that? How do you deal with writer's block? A couple of questions for those who like to write on YCM, whether it be short stories, novels, poems or something else. Feel free to move to Polls if you think it's better suited there. Dark
I take an event in my life. I twist it around. Idea completed. Let's expand on that. Let's say I wanted to write a novel today. First, I'd look at the past year. What event can I remember with succulent detail? ...how about a trip to the XYZ islands? Okay, so I went to the XYZ islands and I drank alcohol, because it was legal. I also learned how to surfboard. HOLD UP. That's not my kind of story. My story would be: I went to the XYZ islands, and I drank alcohol. Unluckily for me, it was illegal, and I was on the run from the cops. On my run, I met this famous XYZ pr0n star who taught me how to surfboard. I used this newfound skill to escape back to the US. =)

Lemniscate
I watch a movie, for some reason, watching the visuals, and listening to the music sparks my creativity. Usually I watch Lord of the Rings, as it seems to do the trick every time.
Prada
Well, I day dream a lot about the characters I dream up, creating different situations. A lot of my inspiration and day dreams comes from my music I listen to. I'll be listening to something and kind of drift off. I do it a lot before I sleep. I take things from my friends and different elements I see somewhere to create a world or character which is each unique in it's own right. Writer's block? I really don't have a lot of writer's block. I hardly get to write short stories and stuff for my literature classes, so I'll sit around and write, then use my stories as papers. I really don't get a lot of writer's block. ;/
Blamonchesix
Be alone. There should be no one in the house (or at least at the room) with you.It helps me concentrate and avoid distraction.

-Berserker-
I watch something on tv that has inspired me before. Or read a book or listen to a song that did the same. Or just forget about it until suddenly an idea appears in the head.

Shrekstasy
Dude, everything I write is brutal as funk. Even for assignments. I had George Washington funking maimed by a necrophile. This necrophile then went on to having anal sex with a large dog.
Marisa Kirisame-ze
For those writers on YCM, what gets you motivated to write? ~Music, poems, interesing quotes, and events that happen to me. When you've got a glimpse of an idea but can't think to expand on it- where do you go with that? ~Get a little help from my friends, who have interesting ideas to expand a story. Also, I listen to a lot of music that appears to state the same theme within my story. And sometimes, I let people read what I have at first, and hear what they think should go next. How do you deal with writer's block?~Never had it. But if I did, I'd lay off writing for a while, and wait for the impact to come on and to just suddenly get ideas without trying. It happens a lot. .Lost
I usually tend to take moments from my life and expand them into something completely different in a physical form, but completely the same in an abstract one.
-Griffin
Getting a new hat always helps, as well as choosing a song which seems to have a tone you'd like to emulate in the writing and thinking about the lyrics and stuff - you don't have to have it all based around the song, but it can give awesome ideas.Oh, and wear a cool hat - that srsly helps me. Cin
I suppose songs help me think of ideas, and events. I barely have actual story ideas, they usually wander into fanfics coz I suck at names. I'm in an eternal writers block atm, so I try to read stories for ideas, or watch anime/cartoons.
