All competitive decks used to run

x3 Battle Ox

x3 Neo the Mystical Swordsman

Can someone find a decklist of a tourney winning deck from then?

As a matter of fact, I can. This was Anthony Ballen's deck who had won the most number of tournaments at the time (this is when magic ruler came out.) Evidently this was before axe of despair was seeing play everywhere.

Towards the tail end of magic ruler, this was considered the absolute best possible deck you could make:

3x Mechanicalchaser

3x La Jinn

2x Witch

3x Magician of Faith

1x Cyber Jar

1x Pot

1x Raigeki

1x Dark Hole

1x Reborn

1x Change of Heart

1x Snatch

2x Heavy Storm

2x Swords

2x Tribute to the Doomed

1x Delinquent Duo

1x Forceful Sentry

2x Axe

2x MST

That deck is frightening. Or was.

Then again' date=' if that deck were to go against some of today's best decks, assuming they followed the current ban list, how would that deck fair?

The decks today would win. Even the broken spell lineup they had then can't counter the fact that all their monsters are weak vanillas. And there is nothing in that deck that could come close to stopping any OTK deck.
