AFD... An... OK Dragon, I've Been Sorta Convinced!

Recommended Posts

Geartown + ASW + AFD + AGGD = Game

Actually, that method requires too many cards to set up.

However, Morphs can just go Scopen + Map + 2x LV4 Morphs in hand. Play Map, Scopen, SS LV4, Synch AFD, Destroy Map, revive Scopen, SS LV4, Synch ASW, ASW goes up to 3100, Attack with AFD, ASW goes up to 5200, Attack with ASW, ASW goes up to 10400, enemy LP = 700.

ITT: Missing the timing doesn't exist.

QFT.

The effects "destroy a Field Spell Card" and "gain 1000 Life Points" of "Ancient Fairy Dragon" are considered to resolve simultaneously. However' date=' if you choose to resolve the "add 1 Field Spell Card to your hand" effect, then that occurs afterwards.

Example: If "Geartown" is destroyed by the effect of "Ancient Fairy Dragon" and you choose not to add a Field Spell Card to your hand, then you can activate the effect of "Geartown". However, if you add a Field Spell Card to your hand, then you miss the timing and cannot activate the effect of "Geartown".[/quote']

That doesn't stop it from being useful, guys.

But field spells are terrible' date=' besides the forementioned and a few others. Who wants to add more useless cards in a deck?

[/quote']

That changes nothing. Usually, one would use AFD to abuse their own Field Spells, deal 7300+ in one turn with Wyvern, or simply own Earthbounds. Also, it has a better effect, along with better stats than every generic LV7 Synchro that isn't somewhere on the list (aside from, arguably, Lightning Warrior).

IMO, good card.

But' date=' adding [b']terrible field spells[/b] takes up plenty of needed space. Maybe if AFD would have her own GOOD field spell (This & Ancient forest is no), a deck could be made around her and wyvern, at best. She just is too situational for my respect.

In Ancient Gears, and a few other decks, Geartown's a staple to pull out Gadjiltron.

In Morphs, 90% of builds use Map for the revival effect.

AFD will only be used to clear out these and any irrelevant field spells used by the opponent.

Some of the more likely Field Spells one will run into:

Zombie World (EBI)

Mausoleum of the Emperor (EBI)

Wetlands (Frogs)

Just to name a few, listing more's a waste of time.

Pretty much, unless you're running Gears or Morphs, this card is used on enemy field spells only. Not only that, its effect is a +2 if you happen to run one yourself.

Situational... not only does the concept of the Extra Deck want to have a word with you, but every card in the game is situational if you think about it. Some moreso than others, but still...
