I'll use the only argument my school has towards it and can't think of any other rebuttals: Having non-uniform would mean there would be more bullying at the school as poor people would stand out more' date=' etc.

How you make your society sound like... Seems like I wanna punch you all in the face for intolerance and force you to sit down with a couple "chavs" to have a good time. Kinda like how a zoo makes animals get along -_-.

 

As for me, I don't like the idea. As I'm easily distinguished by my CONSTANT light blue long sleeves and dark blue pants. It explains who I am, and am proud of it.

 

Lol. Sit me down with 2 chavs and try to get us to get along. I'll give you 5 minutes before I'm on the floor beaten up for having a different opinion.

Oh yes they can. They wear their ties really short and low down, have like 3-4 buttons undone from the top of their shirt and where mini-skirts.

Reminds me of my bf.:)

 

Personally I don't have a problem with subcultures, chavs or anyone.

Some are just stupid and beat others down (usually the posers), but others are quite nice and won't mind or maybe talk about different opinions.

 

This reminds me of my former dance teacher who was something like a role model even though we had different tastes and opinions (but I still loved his courses). He wasn't really a "chav", more like what you see in those street dancing movies and listened to Hiphop (which apparently is what most of these "chavs" are into).

But he was still a really nice guy, had a wife and children and was quite open towards others.

 

I guess if more people were like that these "chavs", Hiphop guys or similar groups wouldn't have such a bad connotation.

 

That's what I think school uniforms would do well for. I'm sick of the chavs vs metalheads drama etc. so I guess with the uniforms there'd be less strong barriers between groups and MAYBE people would stop categorizing everyone like they do where I live. (but then it's still possible to "mark" yourself and your group of friends somehow)

And like Brushfire said, you can still trim and wear your stuff the way you want.

 

Still, I wouldn't mind uniforms myself.

-You don't have to worry about what to wear.

-Everybody looks alike, so there's no competition appearance-wise.

-They can be customized to a degree. (Ties, shoes, etc.)

-They make the school seem more professional.

 

-AGAINST:

-Really limits your options for school.

-You have no choices in the matter of what to wear.

-They can get expensive.

-You need to wash them a lot.

No sorry. School uniforms suck it's like for example you're looking for a friend on the bus (not me I walk/bike) and there's just a bunch of retards in the same outfit thinking come on. So it basically takes away individuallity and creativity, two valuable expressive elements of personality. So overall School Uniform in 1337=f41|

To zaner and others who said that: If you care so much about individuality and creativity go join a cosplay club or arts group at your school?

I understand that looks can help showing your personality to others but there's not just that... Appearance is overrated if you ask me.:/

Find other ways to show who you are?

Because kids should be able to have access to firearms long enough to be trained with them.

And you're going to have to get used to wearing a tie when you go and actually get a job, might as well start early...

Because kids should be able to have access to firearms long enough to be trained with them.

Right.

 

Obviously exceedingly young ages shouldn't handle guns, however we should introduce them to firearms at an early age.

 

They are a device of safety and security, not some scapegoat to be demonized for problems.

 

Marksmanship should be a required course to pass high school, and everyone should be raised to understand guns and know their proper use and safe handling.

 

Now let's get back to uniforms, because we're going to get yelled at for derailing this topic XD

 

 

 

Also, I've been exposed to firearms since I was 3, I've been shooting them since I was around 7 and I have no violent tendencies, nor have I come remotely close to killing someone with them. Go figure?
