Skippy Canoe
I have some random facts about the Earth. Didja know that if the world were hit by a massive solar storm, auroras would be seen throughout the world? Didja know that the eye of a hurricane is calm and involves fair weather? Didja know that every billion or so years, our magnetic field reverses, and would cause us to go bye bye? Didja know that the sun will die in around 5 billion years and either engulf us or extend are orbit, all the while making it too hot to live on Earth? Didja know that several moons in our solar system contain water? Didja know that light cannot escape from a black hole? Discuss natural disasters that occur in your area, or if you believe that the world will ever end. *waits for sarcastic response from a five or six-star member*
Willieh
I hope the world doesn't end. But there's not really much you can do about it if it does. =\
Skippy Canoe
Scientists don't predict that it will end. It's possible in 2012 more than in 2009 though. Every eleven years, a solar maximum occurs, and a lot of activity on the sun will happen. We may be hit by an extreme amount of particles from the sun, which would destroy our power, communications, ozone layer, etc. D: We were fine in 2001 though. Only time this actually hurt us was in 1859. Only the telegram was affected though, so we survived, YAY!
