[contest] Make a deck so simple an 8 year old could use it.

Recommended Posts

I have a cousin who is trying to learn to play yugioh, but all he has is a random pile of cards he think look cool and a few synchro monsters. I think he needs a simple deck that is also cheap, so i thought YCM could help me.

The deck:

Must be cheap. He doesn't have a lot of money, so no d-draw engine, no dad, no mirror force. keep it to commons, rares, and cheap foils.

Must be easy to run. Think back to your first deck you used to try to understand the game.

[spoiler=tips from others]

@Everyone:

Make sure the deck can teach advantage easily' date=' as that is a big part of the game. Teaching chaining and priority are also important so things like Monarchs and Roar or PWWB (Also a good choice for teaching advantage) are things you might want to include in the deck.

Prizes:

1st: 3 reps

2nd: 2 reps

3rd: 1 rep

contest ends Dec. 25 2009. maybe extended depending on the decks submitted.

I usually give new players really basic Gadgets or a Big city build as they teach pretty much everything you need to know and are still simple to run.

Something you might want to consider:

He will be running very simple decks, you might want to find another low tier deck to play against him with so that he doesn't get discouraged because he is losing all the time... Given, that will still happen do to skill level, but the games will be closer... You also might want to throw a few matches every now and then... I volunteer at an elementary school and teach the kids how to play all the time... Some of the kids like it whether or not they lose because they see it as a challenge, but some need a bit of a reward every now and again.

This Deck is based on the one my 10-year old brother played before quitting Yugimonz. He plays Poké-Oh now...and sucks at it.

(22)

5 Monarchs (Your choice, I advise 3 Caius and 2 Raiza, Raiza can be replaced by Mobius for budget)

3 Rat

3 Exiled Force

1 Reaper

1 Marshmallon

3 Krebons

3 Breaker

(8)

1 Rota

1 Storm

1 Pot of Avarice

1 Brain

2 Vortex

2 Fissure

(10)

3 Threatening

3 Reckless

1 Call

3 Bribe (or 2 Bottomless + 1 Bribe, your choice)

Don't run three Krebon... Don't run Krebon at all if you don't run E-Tele...

No wonder he quit...

I believe he ran only 2. Krebons is decent-ish in budget monarchs.

1x Tyrant Dragon

1x Luster Dragon #2

3x Luster Dragon

2x Mirage Dragon

2x Paladin of WD

2x Manju

3x White Stone

The only rares in here should be BEWD...Paladin of WD is in there because it's the only cheap BEWD support...You could add Ancient Rules in place of the Swings...I traded for a common AR last locals.
