1. Do you consider the ability to have your name changed an important part of your forum-going experience? If so, why?

2. If you were to request that your name be changed, what are some of the reasons you would give that would let us know that you deserved it?

Also, discuss username changes in general.

1) No, but it's nice to have some variety once in a while ;]

2) Because the internet allows you to adopt a different persona, and after a while you can tire of some. When I changed my name from ZenQued to .fireworks, it was because I felt like getting rid of the ZenQued persona, I had no need of it anymore. Of course, there comes a time every once in a while where something just comes to you and you're like "aw hell yeah, that's cool" and you want that to be your name, and if its really that BA then I think that it's worthwhile to make it your name, however, I can understand how something like that would piss you off.

But this whole name change drama would be so much easier if we could just get MyStore. I really don't see the point in all this stress surrounding it.

Also, its really weird when people get their names changed and its like they've disappeared. Now that the name change guru's gone there's no way to keep track of it, which is kinda confusing.

Next person who requests a name change in this topic is getting their post deleted. This isn't a topic to ask for name changes. This is a topic to discuss the concept of name changes.

Changing your username to suit you is an important factor. However, you should just stick with it, like I stuck with this name for over a year

'This new one suits me, my current one doesn't.'

Well god' date=' sorry for asking.

Names are your identity even on the internet.

No need to apologize. I just wanted to make the purpose of this thread clear.

Exactly. Just a name which other members call you <.<

Changing it might cause confusion at first.

As was said earlier, many beginning usernames are sort of stupid. Either you were young, or you just didn't think you'd be staying around long, but for whatever reason, you're in urgent need of a change.

THat being said, the confusion that can result is largely unnecessary. Your name is merely a means of identification. People will learn your personality through the content of your posts.

~Things are changing, and we are changing with them.

It's like when you have a new style of clothing, you change in that form of way, when on the internet clothing compares to signatures and avis.

A name change compares to daily life, in where you change your ideas or oppinions.

Plus, identity matters.

2. If you were to request that your name be changed, what are some of the reasons you would give that would let us know that you deserved it?

~Well, there would be no reason why I wouldn't deserve it. I mean, I keep to the rules and barely change my name. Is that no exception?

Like I said in the mods forum I'd still like the possibility of a name change to stay open.=/ But limit it to rare cases, maybe on certain events like a birthday bash or just once per year. Perhaps name changes can be a price for some Christmas events.

Also make it look more serious and not something handed out like cookies. Like your 2nd point, some sort of template about reasons why people want their name changed and why they deserve it. That should cut down a lot on "for teh lulz" names and "oh I want this, *2 days later*no wait!".

1-)If you are a well known member and change your name drastically, then you, ina a wat dissapear to the rest. Its better to keep it the same for as long as posible.

2-)This would be the first time I change it, and its only a minor change?(This because Ive been wanting to remove the "37" from my name for quite sometime)

So my opinion would be name changes for minor things such as capitalization, spacing, spelling would be fine but major name changes should be restricted to certain times(special ocasions)

Personally, I believe that it's not an important part. A forum name is nothing of importance, and what matters is the quality of your posts. No matter what name I'm saying something under, my opinion is the same.

Support this =D

I don't mind name changes that make sense like jspamax to J-Max. Not pointing at Sushi personally but he changes his name A LOT. Also Symbols are just plain retarded.

¬.¬ I was a ~Raven~ because there was already a Raven around.:D

Sushi... used to change his name when he found a new anime character he liked but he's stayed like this for a few months now, I think. Progress.;)
