my card

card : 83602z.jpg

lore : You can remove 1 “Blue Eyes White Dragon” from the Graveyard from play to Special Summon this card. When this card attacks a DARK monster destroy all face-up LIGHT monsters. When this card destroys a monster by battle, place 1 BEWD Counter on this card (Maximum 4.) When this card has 3 or more BEWD Counters on this card you can tribute this card to Special Summon 1 level 8 or lower LIGHT Normal Monster from your Deck. If this card is sent to the Graveyard by the effect of this card, destroy 1 face-up card on the field. While this card is in the Graveyard you cannot Special Summon any cards except LIGHT monsters

You can Special Summon this card in face-up Defence Position during your opponent's Battle Phase when a face-up LIGHT or Dragon-Type monster you control battles. Switch the attack target to this card instead. If this card would be destroyed by battle when you control a face-up LIGHT or Dragon-Type monster, you can remove this card from play to add 1 LIGHT monster from your Deck to your hand and shuffle it. As long as this card is removed from play, Dragon-Type monsters gain 200 ATK.

I vote for Tom:

Not only Flare Dragon destroys itself if it battles a DARK monster, but its effect will be hard to pull off: with all the card destruction around, the chances for him of destroying 3 monsters by battle to activate its effect are pretty low.

On the other hand, Bytra is a quick card that is really versatile: It works both as a defense and as searcher, and in moments of struggle, you can always Normal Summon it and attack an stronger monster to trigger its effect instantly.

However, I don't like how the card supports both LIGHTs and Dragons; It is good that it works with both types, but I think it should only support Dragons or LIGHT-Dragons for instance. Why? because it would be odd to see this card in other LIGHT Decks such as Lightsworns, VWXYZ, Cyber Dragons, etc.; yes, this card would be helpful in such Decks, but it would be out of the theme.

Also, there is a problem with the "Switch the attack target to this card instead" effect: If you are attacking your opponent with a LIGHT monster and you choose the Special Summon this card, what happens if the opponent is the attack target at that moment? Do you attack Bytra with your own monster?

So, to avoid this confusion, I suggest you to replace

"You can Special Summon this card in face-up Defense Position during your opponent's Battle Phase when a face-up LIGHT or Dragon-Type monster you control battles."

With:

"You can Special Summon this card in face-up Defense Position during your opponent's Battle Phase when a face-up LIGHT or Dragon-Type monster you control is attacked."

Well, looks like Tom is going to get my vote. Even though that pic is so NOT a dragon. Is that...a pen it's wielding?

I'm not that fond of the flare dragon's self-destruct when it pokes a DARK monster. Especially since there are looooads of dark decks floating around. It's not bad for BEWD support...but Tom's card trumps it as far as that goes. And that sirs, is my opinion.
