Yes' date=' like in the case of Germans seeing Jews as the problem that caused the depression after the first world war. :D I got it.

[/quote']

Precisely. The Nazis may have been people too and had their actions governed in part by their beliefs. That doesn't make them good.

In my ethics class, we had to argue for and against homosexuality.

One group came up with the argument that gay people are saving humanity by lowering the population.

And in religious perspective, God was killing people with AID's cos the worlds full.

In my ethics class, we had to argue for and against brown hair.

Also, did nobody in your ethics class just produce the ultimate trump-card argument: "Why Not"?

Rather than blather on about my religious standpoint, I'll be brief. Everyone who believes that homosexuality is against the Bible and thus use the Bible as their primary source of argument have no right to their argument as the passages that supposedly make antihomosexual statements are in fact either taken out of context or are immediately contradicted by other statements within the same passage or at least in other points of the Bible. In fact, isn't the Bible just a collection of things written by several authors? We could have one person writing about how he thinks homosexuality is a sin, but another will just write that nothing really matters so long as you have strong belief in God.

But these are Evangelical, correct? Then I shall add them to the category alongside Catholics and Mormons, as their beliefs can discriminatory for the reasons stated above.

Keep the religious talk out. Their beliefs have a hold on their choices' date=' but they are all people first.

[/quote']

Indeed, most people are people. However, some people forget that other people are people. And when that horrible failure of memory causes them to stop treating other people as people, a problem exists even though these people are still people.

And anyways, gays aren't a plague, so leave them be.

Do you just make an analogy that basically puts Evangelicals on the same level as Hitler and gays on the same level as Jews? Sir, you are a genius.

I have heard that the Bible does not actually condemn homosexuality, and that, for example, the crime of Sodom was not homosexuality but rather inhospitality, which actually seems to fit the overall Love Thy Neighbor message. However, I don't pay much attention to such lines of argumentation because, first of all, I have no Biblical knowledge of significance, and second of all, what the Bible says or doesn't say should be of no relevance to the laws of any civilized nation.

I have heard this as well, which explains why parts of the Bible seem to retcon each other. That's why, when God in the story of Lot comes across as neither kind nor forgiving, the story of Jonah crops up to basically parody the idea that God would do such a thing.

Although many have said that the Church decided that they wanted this, I don't think they wanted people to be necessarily killed for homosexuality. Now that it was defined more, (or rather, that I realized it a little more, and it was my fault for not interpreting well enough) I grasp that they were preaching their faith, but I don't think they necessarily intended to have people killed.

The Church is about what is right and wrong and saving others. By their rules, if the people who committed said wrong were not able to live long enough to repent and change, then how would they be saved? Those people who went to preach there knew that, because if they are being allowed to preach this around the world, they know enough about what their preaching to tell people overseas about it, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to go.

So, they had no intention of having people getting killed over it, because their intention was to save. However, that cannot be done without the process of repenting and change. If they are killed before it can be done, then they won't be saved, and that's not what the Church wants.

Also, Dark, I've seen you quote posts and say "Assuming there is a God.", when it is necessary. I figured you might try and do this here, but you don't need to, because it's pretty obvious that some believe and some don't, and I'm assuming because I believe, and assuming this is required to make sure the statement makes sense.

It should be assumed that God existing is assumed. If you believe it as fact, you are simply ignorant.

@ Crab Helmet:

Rev. Jerry Falwell would like a huuuuuge word with you.

"The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country."

I might spell some things wrong' date=' mostly because I'm not entirely sure HOW to spell them.

AHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEEEEEEEM. You don't perform actions "wrong", you perform them "incorrectly". AHEM.

Dude, owned.

Never noticed that post. And yes, I was proved horribly wrong. I could care less, though, as English is my weakest subject. And I'm not terribad at it. Just... average.

However, reminding that it is assumed that God exists all the time is like reminding people to breath. If the post assumes God exists, then I'm pretty sure anyone reading it would be able to tell, and assume.

Also, having faith is not believing your belief to be fact. In my eyes, having faith is being able to defy the facts and still believe. Of course, it doesn't mean I'm not open minded, but this is what I believe.

And all other people were invented by the Devil to stop me from being supreme ruler of the planet.

Therefore, I should be made supreme ruler of the planet.

Jerry Falwell is dead, and I am saddened that I could never meet him and that I don't have enough middle fingers to point at him. Regrettably, he died from a sudden cardiac attack, which is not an ironic death. His statement shows his arrogance. After all, I was raised Lutheran, and yet I believe in the separation of church and state, which is why John Locke and Martin Luther were geniuses.

I cannot help but feel that you and this Polaris fellow are some sort of awesome tag-team duo, not unlike Iron Man and War Machine, as so poignantly stated in your sig.

The extra forever emphasizes the foreverness of their friendship.

Buddhism doesn't need to be spread. It's that peaceful.

You Christians spread it to everyone. It's like a disease.

Btw, just remembered I saw the news a few months ago on how Hinduism surpassed Christianity on 'number of followers'. The Christians were pretty pissed. xD
