Seriously Konami, stop making useless cards! [Rant]

Recommended Posts

I've become an avid MtG player and, from what I can see, there are very few cards in MtG that are useless. Sure, it may be outclassed in someway, but even then the outclassed card is still usually good even if it just means you can run multiples of each, such as Counterspell (2 Blue) outclassing Cancel (1 Colorless and 2 Blue) because it costs less, but Cancel is still used because it's another counter. On the other hand, in YGO, a card is either bad or awesome, very rarely do you find a card that is descent but outclassed (MtG style). Konami needs to learn how to make good cards and then just make good cards.

Last I checked' date=' there are plenty of weak and high-cost vanilla creatures in MtG as well.

Recent additions? And from what I've found, in MtG most every deck actually stands a chance vs. another deck, for the most part. Every TCG has some flukes, but even concidering those MtG is much more balenced in both fairness and card suckage:card awesome than YGO.

Aside from what I mentioned, MtG stuff tends to be broken anyways. Infinite life, 20/20 Flying Haste Shroud Shadow Token on the first turn, infinite tokens, forcing the opponent to forfeit over money, etc.

It's like Pokemon in the sense that anything decent is broken.

I can't even comprehend how that would happen first turn...

There's a card that gives you said token without haste. You just have to generate the required mana and give it haste with another card.

The problem with Yugioh is that there are plenty of decent cards but they're nowhere near absolutely broken or techable in various decks OR decks that people consider to be meta at the moment and thus people cry out "THIS IS TERRIBLE" instead of even trying to think of any way to put said cards to use. While there are plenty of cards that are too situational to really serve much of a purpose, there are few cards that are really completely useless contrary to what the average player says. Don't get me wrong, there are some horrifically bad and outclassed cards but I find most players tend to consider almost everything bad these days when in actuality at least 80% of all cards in the packs in the last 3-4 years have been pretty much usable in some way.

It's funny how this is the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG section' date=' yet this started as a semi-YGO-related topic, and then turned into an MtG argument between burnpsy and DAZ

*Waits for DAZ and burnpsy to own each other*

I want the morphtronics, or the aliens.

:D

Oh wait, we are in a topic, aren't we?

Excuse me...

OTish: Ranting about useless cards is pointless, threating konami by walking to there offices and tell them to make the cards better or you blow them up is so much better.

In other words, konami want money.

That's because they only have broken cards. Also there a ton of decent cards.

I know how. I look at the price.

:D

I don't like buying things online anyways, i would rather see what im buying first IRL.

This is only a concern to those actually playing the physical game and buying the packs.

Cause we buy paper IRL, cause we are cool.

In other words, you don't really care do you about this topic?

I like to see what I'm buying as well so I rarely buy online.

OTpc: MTG is a poor card game, yu-gi-oh isn't. There you have it.

That was worded very awkwardly, but yes. Besides, cards like Skull Servants and some bad archetypes were useless upon release, but gained viability as support came out. This won't be the case with everything, but denying a card creation because it isn't instantly useful or is currently outclassed is foolish for that reason.
