Friday Night I make some changes to my flamvell zombie deck after some playtesting with my friend and temmate Andy. He also messes about with his gemini beatdown deck and I think we pretty much perfected our builds for what we expected to play against at the regionals. After that we sit up all night until 5am watching Azumanga Daioh =D Not sleeping was a bad idea btw... Saturday Morning Saturday morning we get a lift into Glasgow Queen Street Station for our 6am train where we play switch for a few hours and do a deck profile on each of our decks for my youtube channel, though I probs won't upload my one just cause I want it to be a surprise for people at nats, but now that his deck has been made popular by shreik he's fine with me uploading his. So we get into newcastle around 10ish where we proceed to get completely lost trying to find a yugioh shop... turned out the regional was held in the local community center where there was Cricket and a wee girl Gymnastics class also going on at the same time =/ Register and hand in decklists perfectly fine and find out they were using the dreaded KES program for pairings... surprisingly nothing went wrong the whole day =D Round 1 I get paired onto one of the bottom tables and I'm stuck thinking "I'm gonna have to win all my games for 5 rounds at least before I get to rest at table 1..." Flamvell Zombie vs Level Up based 60 card deck G1: He wins the dice roll and lets me go first... idiot XD I set goblin zombie and solemn and end. He summons mystic swordsman or something... the one that destroys face down guys by attacking so I search zombie master then summon like 4 synchros and win next turn. G2: I side in some oppressions and win with 1900 firedogs beating face. Round 2 Flamvell Zombie vs Quickdraw deck G1: We get deckchecked which took forever and we only got a 5 minute extension on the round... game 1 took about 10 minutes. I win by setting rekindling, mind control and morphing jar, discarding lots of flamvell stuff then drawing 2 more rekindling off jar. time gets called just as we finish side decking for game 2. G2: I sided in oppressions and negated his black rose dragon. Next turn I torrent his field and attack for game on the last turn of time... Round 3 Flamvell Zombie vs Dark Simorgh Blackwing G1: I win turn 1 with brionac bouncing all cards but one whirlwind in case of gorz. Synchro goyo then set rekindling. Discard firedog to add my rekindling to hand, set it again and discard my second firedog to add rekindling to hand, play rekindling and attack for game =D G2: He uses icarus attacks and other one for one removal on me until we're both topdecking. He ends up with 2 mist valley level 4 tuners out then next turn I top plague with zombie master already in hand so I go into zombie master and revived king ha des and he has a huge argument with me about how his guys both still resolve despite not being able to activate, and if they did activate my revived king would then negate it... So he topdecks nothing after that and I win. Round 4 Flamvell Zombie vs Supervise Gemini Don't remember this game much at all but the play that won both games was mind control his guy, then summon flamvell magician/plague then I negate his torrent with my starlight road. Round 5 I'm on table 1 finally =D Flamvell Zombie vs Flamvell Cat G1: I win turn 2 or 3 because of brain control and rekindling after a good morphing jar. G2: He solemns early and I put him on 3000 life exactly around turn 4 or 5 with a direct sangan attack. Next turn I go brionac against a full backfield but am confident because I have 2 my body and solemn face down. He bottomlesses, I neg with body, chains torrent, I neg again with body. I continue to clear his field completely then have 2 guys out and realise he might have gorz in hand so I top for plague, synchro into RDA with brionac and attack for game exactly. He then shows me the gorz in hand XD Round 6 Flamvell Zombie vs Machina Gadget He has answers to everything I have and grand mole stops me using ryko and turtles... I lose 2-0. Don't remember much about the game t all... Round 7 Flamvell Zombie vs Blue Eyes Hopeless Variant G1: He draws a bad hand and I win because my firedogs are bigger than his Wyverns. G2: He draws more than half through his deck but loses because he can't draw into any way to dump his wyverns. So I end on 6-1, apparently tied for first place with 6 other people because KES is terrible, but its reasoned that I'm third, my friend andy is second and Ginger Chris (guy I played in last round) was 8th so every scottish guy that travelled for the event qualified =D Got me a new playmat I'll never use and packs with one worthwhile card in them. Walked around and handed my commons I didn't want to the first kid I saw. Journy Home Completely exhausted, andy and I have to get back to glasgow tonight... this included waiting 3 hours for a train cause I bought a late ticket thinking we'd be spending ages at the regional. During this 3 hours we witness loads of small fights in the town centre because there was apparently a football match on that day, witnessed loads of pretty girls in tight/short clothing (although andy was asleep on the burger king table at this point XD) and out of complete randomness some drunk guy who could bearly stand walked over to me and stole my bottle of lucozade D= Train home we spend a while talking to a load of drunk(ish) guys who were amazed to have found some scottish guys next to them on the train. Next train we're on a completely mobbed train and have to sit on the floor so I bring out the playing cards and get a game of switch going with the other random guys who found themselves having to sit on the floor =P Eventually get to my door for 1.00 and pretty much go straight to bed.
