On an unrelated note' date=' if I ever see someone 'pile shuffle' in front of me, I try to memorize the order they did it in and then do it in reverse to 'unshuffle' it. If they give me an attitude, I merely state "I'm counting the number of cards in your deck." And, if they give more of an attitude then that they'll look more suspicious that they were stacking or w/e. Hilarity ensues! =D

Heh, that wouldn't work vs. me. If I do pile shuffle, I shuffle normally afterwards so it's randomized anyways, you can't really "unshuffle" something that's been randomized. I also tend to cut my deck multiple times while shuffling.

Stupid scenario. In no way whatsoever should this guy have cheated, but when searching a card from the deck I always put it face up on the table straight away, shuffle and then add it to my hand. If my opponent didn't do it that way, I'd be suspicious (unless it was just a kid who didn't know duelling etiquette).

 

Then again, his opponent was probably nervous due to pressure and wasn't paying much attention to the guy's actions...

Yes but if you are allowed to cheat, rather than drawing, you would just search your deck for the cards you want in your hand.

Hm... it's not a bad scam (by scam definitions). I don't know what to think... I have a generally poor opinion of people and wouldn't put it past anyone to cheat, but I highly doubt that many people were stupid enough to let somebody like Cheng do stuff unwatched. Especially stuff like that.

 

Still, it's be interesting if it worked, especially with X-Sabers. Darksoul becomes Gold Sarc.

man, you guys have a stupid view of cheating games. believe it or not, there are quite a few games out there where the objective is to cheat. like BS. but if they made a cheater's cup in yugioh, it would probably involve cheating without getting caught. if you get caught, youre disqualified or take some penalty or something.

KDE isn't banning people "for all time" and only disqualifies them. The only real difference between tourneys now and if that happened is the severity of the punishment. Most likely, being caught cheating would result in a round loss. Btw, you wouldn't be "caught cheating" unless your opponent voices a complaint. Otherwise it's fine.

 

Edit: To name another game where cheating is encouraged, Munchkin. Like BS, it's stated in the rules that as long as you aren't caught, you aren't cheating.

The object of Munchkin isn't to cheat though. The object is to screw over as many people as possible.

 

As for the ACTUAL subject at hand, people who cheat are just insecure idiots who don't feel they have the skill to win.

 

Like most people in this thread, when I search for a card I put the card on the table as I shuffle. You have to put your hand down on the table to search your deck anyway really, so was this guy just THAT oblivious? If someone DIDN'T put the card on the table I'd call a judge over, or at least threaten to.

Really, it should strike people as odd if someone DOESN'T show your the card BEFORE adding it to their hand. Granted, not EVERY deck search was probably cheating, but I'd still get annoyed if someone kept adding the card to their hand without showing it to me separate from their hand. It's just good manners. It removes all doubt the search was cheating.

 

If someone consistently (or worse, inconsistently) adds cards directly to their hand during a search, I'd probably ask them to please show me the card before adding to their hand. It's not too much to ask, and not tedious to do, and really, all players should expect their opponent to do so. If someone refuses, or demands what difference it makes, it just makes them look suspicious or a poor sport.
