J-Max
Good. Not a fan of Synchros anyway... Bleh. Not a fan of monsters much' date=' but Im not going to complain more than this distaste. I am fully aware that this section is not solely mine, that'd be crazy. I'd speak it out and flesh it out with a few people first, if nothing is fleshed out for a trial run it wouldn't happen (even this isn't out there enough to test as is). Josh, did you see what happened to Role Playing with the Advanced Clause? Almost the entire Forum reacted in a not so nice way to it. You said it yourself once "A effect should be expressed in the most Natural way possible" (Not exactly those words but something like that. Please leave the flexibility of Realistic open. The last thing we want is elitist Snobs complaining about every single Shortcut that is used. We are all equal, so we deserve the right to express ourselves however long the effect. Realistic is my second favorite section and I would like to keep it open for Card Makers of all experience Levels. Pop Culture is more my Territory and I encourage members to be open with their ideas. I use Fake Types in Pokevolution all the time and Members love it. As I said I will do my best to keep things free and open in RC & PC. Nothing will change that. Oh and don't mention my 6 Month absense, that is not relevent. I love Custom Cards like it was my only child.
Kitty
No more than using a sharpened chisel to do what a knife can do in the short time. Of course there is places where a knife is clearly better' date=' (more details and subtleness), using a Chisel to get the form is still much better and efficient. You aren't destroying anything. (I'd analog this to clay if I knew the name of the tools).[/quote'] But if the person would prefer to use the knife because it's they way they want to use it, would you penalize them for it? When the form itself suffers from a lack of shape, yes. (Rather known as having no life of its own). Sick Josh. Just Sick. You disappoint me. And I question your intelligence on this. Are you telling us that you would force a rule just to try to make this section of the forum decent?

I love Custom Cards like it was my only child. Please... I agreed with the Advanced Clause, through and through. They were not Roleplaying on a Forum (YCM is different than a Javachat etc). So maximum detail etc, is a must. That's like reading a book 1 sentence at a time. And when I RP, I keep it to 3 Paragraphs at a time. Expecting less than, 1 Paragraph is wrong as you aren't telling a story you're speaking it. Try roleplaying (including playfighting) IRL, that'd be taken as an insult if you werent expressive. I had a friend come by the site (who's an experienced RPer), to justify the behavior and none of it could be. Even under the assumption that they are kids... As for the shortcut, the idea would be that it is optional (again referring to the Knife and Chisel comment). There are places where flexibility is a need for the cardmaker, but having that shortcut open and acceptable is suddenly bad? @Kitty: Does the term, "Optional Shortcuts" mean anything to you? =x
Oyobi
Again' date=' people miss the point...[/quote'] Not being rude or mean or anything that suggests something along those lines. Just because people don't acknowledge your point doesn't mean they don't know what it is. You would not be allowed to use more than 1 Keyword (like how FLIP is a single keyword in such cards.1 Keyword per card is ok i understand that and why. Also some of the suggested keywords I read in this thread aren't all that self explanatory like "FLIP" which explains itself without having to look up what it means. "Piercing Damage" somewhat explains itself' date=' its understood it still deals damage by reading just not on what the condition is. (applies to anyone that hasn't played i guess) Confusion would be almost nill, because we would design it to focus on common sense. Though it is expected to be confusing at first (what change isn't?) You cannot be absolutely sure confusion will be nill as some people do lack common sense. Agreed on change always causes confusion. The idea is so that people DON'T HAVE TO POST THE LORE. And focus less on presentation and more on the overall effect. Even if people don't have to post the lore they'll have to put up what the shortcut means for anyone that doesn't know' date=' in that case it'll be better to just post the whole lore. I'm starting to get really annoyed by all of you, not being able to read. What is it that's bad about that? Sorry if I annoyed you with my previous post and this one as well. I did read everything i just didn't want to elaborate. What I personally see bad with shortcuts is coming up with some that are self-explanatory. If someone can come up with some that explain themselves without having to look up what it means then i personally see no problem.
J-Max
All right Josh. I'll use one of my most famous Cards and then write it in a Shortcut way. Tell me what looks more genuine. ORIGINAL EFFECT1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters with 1 or more Spell CountersWhen this card is Synchro Summoned successfully, add the Tuner monster used for this summon from your graveyard to your hand. All Spell Counters on the field are moved to this card (max. 12). Increase the ATK & DEF of this card by 200 for each Spell Counter. When this card is removed from the field it is returned to the Extra Deck instead and Spell Counters equal to double the Spell Counters on this card are distributed between face-up cards you control that you can place a Spell Counter on. "SHORTCUT" EFFECT1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters + 1 Spell CounterWhen this card is Synchro summoned, add Tuner card from graveyard. All Spell Counters are on this card now. + 200 ATK & DEF per Spell Counter. When destroyed, return to Extra Deck and put Double the SPell Counters on monsters you own. There is no way on Gods earth that I will limit myself this way just to make it readable on the card. I got a headache modifying it.
Guest JoshIcy
Sorry about that Oyobi... I did not mean harm unto you, just massive annoyances. @James: That card is incorrect under this acceptance, as there is a problem with it. There is no acceptable shortcut for that card yet, except Umbra's suggestion. Which does not follow the 1 Shortcut per card rule and uses too many variables to be acceptable. In other words, your card cannot yet be shortened. So your original is totally fine. Second just made me giggle.Edit: http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-206096-post-4205956.html#pid4205956 Post #23, has the part about it being optional. Oyobi
Sorry about that Oyobi... I did not mean harm unto you' date=' just massive annoyances. [/quote'] Yay no harm...annoyance is fun though when its not you. Anyway i though about a shortcut that I think is self-explanatory and can replace "remove this/that card from play". "Erase this/that card". If you erase something its understood its gone for good. Had to give it a shot >_>

If those are acceptable for those 2 instances what about mine? Now that i think about it...it really wouldn't be that acceptable since "remove from play" isn't an excruciatingly long explanation for one effect. Guest JoshIcy
Erase is not a literal term nor does it appear to be a substitution. The keyword/shortcuts are for longer drawn out effects that cover basic rulings.
Oyobi
Didn't just basically say the same thing? Oh well who cares. So what other drawn out effects are there that can use a shortcut/keyword that hasn't been mentioned yet?
Guest JoshIcy
Unions, Spirits, Geminis (additional summons), and Im pretty sure a ton extra.
Oyobi
Well i'll see if i can come up with something reasonable for Spirits and Unions. I dont know much about Geminis to try. EDIT: For Union monsters the term Gattai can probably be used. So a card like Armored Cybern would read. Gattai-Cyber Dragon: Once per turn, while equipped to a monster by this effect, you can decrease the equipped monster's ATK by 1000 and destroy 1 face-up monster. (A monster can only by equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead.) just a though. :P
