Info on Monarchs

Recommended Posts

I've heard alot about Monarchs but I have no idea what they do exactly. Could anyone please enlightenment about them?

Well, the best Monarchs are

Thestolas

Caius

Raiza.

Simply because Monarchs, have really basic effects that can be either game winners or game changers, but Caius is the best because he can remove any card, clear a board and so much more. Even though Monarchs need tribute fodders, it's not really that hard to run em'.

Or, I could explain a little. There are 7 Monarchs, each with 2400 ATK and 1000 DEF and all Level 6 (except Zaborg who is Level 5 for no good reason). The Monarchs have their effects activated when Normal Summoned (or was it Tribute Summoned? I can't remember exactly.), and their effect involves removing a card on the field (except Thestalos, who removes from hand). For example, Zaborg destroys a monster. Caius removes from play any card, and inflicts damage if it happens to remove something DARK (needless to say, he's the best one). Monarch Decks generate fodder to quickly Tribute Summon Monarchs, and blow through the opponent's cards to victory. Recently, lots of decks have been maining Caius for easy Stardust-dodging card removal.

And, a list of the Monarchs:

Thestalos (opponent discards random card. Damage = Level x 100)

Zaborg (destroy 1 monster)

Mobius (destroy up to 2 S/Ts)

Granmarg (destr0y face-down card)

Kuraz (effect activates even when Special Summoned, destroys up to 2 cards, its controllers draw 1 card per destruction, can't attack in same turn)

Raiza (spin card)

Caius (remove card, inflict 1000 damage if DARK)

Monarchs must be Tribute Summoned to trigger their effects.

Monarchs Summoned through Mausoleum/Cost Down/etc. do not activate.

Caius removes from play any card' date=' and inflicts damage if it happens to remove something DARK (needless to say, he's the best one).[/quote']

It's arguable that Raiza is better for it's stopping power, but any proper Monarch deck would run both at three.

Recently' date=' lots of decks have been maining Caius for easy Stardust-dodging card removal.[/quote']

I thought that was the case ever since Stardust came about.

Okay, how about: as long as I have been paying attention, lots of decks have been maining Caius for easy Stardust-dodging card removal.

That works, too.
