Duelists who give up too easily

Recommended Posts

My last match was pretty funny. I was using a cloudian control deck while my opponent had a morphtronic deck. Near the ending of the duel, he just found out most cloudians cannot be destroyed by battle (It doesn't help that I had spirit barrier too). He just surrendered because he said my deck isn't fun and said to come with a better deck. Discuss when duelists give up because of a situation you put them in.

1 guy at the tournament I dueled against, for both matches he gave up when I destroy his toon monsters and have wall of revealing light and a BEWD, for both matches he gave up, and he had about 3000 LP left.

(And that was when I was a noob, so it was a terrible deck, but, it worked for him.)

I love breaking a duelist's spirit. =D

Better deck? The deck kicked his ass, why would you need a better deck? o_0

Because the opponent was a crybaby and wanted him to make a worse deck so he could win. He pictured "a better deck" to be one that lets him win.

Noob can't make a good deck xD

I remember a person getting mad at me when I surrendered to his "Inferno Tempest" deck. I knew exactly what was left in my deck, and I knew I had nothing to get me out of the lock I was in. I surrendered knowing I had no chance to win (I did have a monster on the field, but I lacked any remaining Spell/Trap destruction in my remaining cards in my deck to stop the attack lock he had, and all my other monsters were removed from play. I also had less cards remaining in my deck so couldn't hope for a deck out).

He got pissy with me because I surrendered and didn't let him complete some "combo" he was trying to do at the end "to see if it would work". I explained what's there to see if I lost because of Inferno Tempest already? I said "Of course whatever you were going to pull would've worked, I have no offensive way to win at this point, and there was no reason to continue". I couldn't get it through his head by the end so it was whatever at that point x.o It was just some WC2009 duel I had (or maybe a Tag Force 4 match)

Edit: I gave up yes, but not without logical thinking that my chances of winning were 0% x.o; Also ZeroChill, Fawful is such a troll. (played the first two Mario and Luigi RPGs a while ago and Bowser's Inside Story less than a month ago) x.o Had to agree with Bowser on beating the crap out of him lol

He said he had Spirit Barrier. All Battle Damage is 0 as long as he has a monster out. Direct attacking doesn't deal damage in this scenario.

Oh. Then he didn't have any way to get rid of a S/T card? :?

I think that's part of the point of the story. *points to thread title*

I prefer beating them down then trying to teach how to play the game correctly.

I used to do that. I learned long ago terrible duelists who have played terribly for a long time will very rarely listen to being told how to fix their deck.

However, the few that do listen will still not understand the basics of card advantage. However, they will think they'll understand the game and deck building more and go around the internet disseminating false information.

Never again! O_O

you know how many scoops i get every day against my ftks?

but yeesh, i only scoop when i absolutely cant win. like dropping 3 exodia pieces for void, or getting jar rfg'd. actually, i once won a game where jar got rfg'd early on turn one. owned that guy with worms and stall. still. last time i scooped with empty jar was hilarious. he had invader of darkness and ha des on the field. i ran through every card in my deck in my mind about 3 times and realized i couldn't stop that tag team. silliness.

I almost never surrender against combos or frustrations unless there is next to no hope for me. In fact, I'll often INSIST on continuing the duel even if my opponent has an advantage of some sort, because there may be something I can get to stall my opponent until they make a mistake or I draw an out. The duel's not truly over until my LP or deck is at 0.

I'll still cling to a hope that I'll find a suitable student that'll do me proud in YGO.

Hell, that one chick I told you guys about always beats me in our local, but she still needs to learn about synchros.

And my point was that his deck was awfully built and that kind of lock should've been a breeze to get through…

Reminds me of that one time when a guy almost started crying when I activated Scrap-Iron Scarecrow while I had the Dark Door on my field.

Actually quite saddening to see a 30-year old guy who looks like he's going to shed a tear because of a children's card game...

it's one thing to quit when you know you're screwed, but quitting just because you don't like how the duel is going? ruins it for the rest of us lol

but my most recent case wa in a tag, my opponents had a Black Luster Soldier and REDRUM / BEWD on thir field(s) (don't ask), my opponent had a good deck, but was still a newb like the other 2 guys. He gave up, then I just quit >>

@CA: Well, that's what I mean the point is. For all we know, he DID have cards to break the lock, but rather than keep fighting to get to a card to save himself (nuke monsters with effects, destroy S/Ts), he surrendered. Thus, being a "Duelist who gives up too easily".

@VK: Fortunately, Synchros aren't an overly difficult concept to learn, and a lot of learning is done via experience. Like when Synching is wise and what to Synch for.
