Icy
Me and Chaos Pudding already disagree with this new feature completely. Your Usernames are your Identity on this forum, you should NOT be allowed to change your identity so willy-nilly.
El Make
Something like that I don't mind, because it's not really changing your name, more like fixing punctuation errors. And for that I would have gladly changed it for you. And all this time I thought a Super would have killed me for asking that... D: Me and Chaos Pudding already disagree with this new feature completely. Your Usernames are your Identity on this forum, you should NOT be allowed to change your identity so willy-nilly. Well, it is set to once a month. Albiet that's basically a new name every 4 weeks... I think I'm starting to see the flaws in this system. >___>
Raiza
IMO its just a couple of words on a forum, does it really matter whether we should change it or not?
El Make
Raiza, there will always be some people out there who will go "ZOMG! I LUV ONE PIECE! MUST CHANGE NAME TO LUFFY1359 NAO!" But seriously, people need to stick with one thing. Especially when everyone in a club does it all at once. The memories of that day.... *shivers*
Chaos Pudding
IMO its just a couple of words on a forum, does it really matter whether we should change it or not? Yes, because, more than anything online, your username is your identity. You change that, you lose the ability for people to recognize you at a glance. If people don't think you're who you used to be, why would they waste time checking your profile to see who you used to be?
Dark
It's fairly easy to identify one outside of their username. If I'm looking through a thread, I can know in a second whether Crab Helmet has posted just by sifting through the avatars. Avatars and signatures can identify you as well as usernames can, and as long as no idiots steal them, it's hard to get them mixed up. This isn't in real life where your name affects every god damned thing you do. This is the internet, where your username is nothing more than a mere identification tag. While it is easy to identify a user by their avatar, that sort of stuff is expected to be changed whenever the user wants to. A name, however, isn't. A user needs something permanent to ground their identity on a board, and their name is that grounding. Besides, why would you ever "sift" through avatars? Wouldn't you rather just read the topic? Sammidysam
Sometimes stalkers just want to find certain people though.
El Make
I know my friend DL changes his avatar every 2 days basically... I'm serious. So I do kind of depend on his name to identify him. So when he got a name change I was screwed... He also changes his sig quite often, so username is of importance with him. >.>

Fair enough; I don't change my avatar too often anymore, so I guess we have different scopes of view. I understand the constant changing of names CAN get confusing, but that is asssuming that every possible member changes their name every time they get a chance to. And that's not probable at all. I would not have minded (word?) a one name change per three month thing, which is how it was originally, as that didn't cause an extraordinary amount of confusion, and was fair to everybody. You can still identify people if their username is changed, be it through an avatar, signature, post-styles, or any of the above. And if you really care who someone is, you can always check their name change history. Although most would have a clue beforehand. And whenever I'm reading through a topic, I usually glance at the avatars or signatures, just to know who is posting what. I rarely ever glance at one's username (but that's just me, and I will if I cannot identify the poster via the avatar or signature), so I become accustomed to associating people with their avatars. For example, Crab Helmet used to have that sparkly avatar with his name in the bottom-right, but now he has an avatar of some dude with two different colored eyes. I obviously remember Crab Helmet by his name, because he is more or less popular, but for other members, I find it easier to associate images. It becomes a problem when one changes their avatar, signature, and name all at once, for me.

It's sort of disappointing that the YCM friend list has to have "friends" on both user's pages... It can't just be on one like the Buddy List, because then if you changed your avatar, signature, and name I wouldn't know who you were because you want to keep that reputation of having 0 users on your friend list. Dark
Well, that's not really a problem in my case, as I won't change my name and probably won't change my avatar, either. :/

Yasu
Stop being pessimistic, it makes me sad. :o This just started and you're already complaining. I'm sure the new features are in some kind of testing period, the administration will probably change them later according the community behavior and needs. Dismal Euphony
I think it's kinda cool. I changed my name! :D I'm the only one I know on this forum with this specific avatar, though. I don't think it's too hard to tell who I am if you already knew me.
