Creating a card game

Nah, my friend knows someone who can draw well that can help

Thats cool. Refer me if you get the chance. I need quite a few artists. Some effect writers wouldn't be all that bad either.

*Is amazed at how people can make traumatizing cards without a general purpose*

Thanks for your input though everyone.

*quotes yugioh abridged*

So its just like duel monsters

No. Its not but rather more based on the fantasy of returning gods that selected a duelist. plus the creatures in my game can "grow" so to speak. Every creature has a way to be summoned. Plants will require seeds to be summoned. Amphibians, arachnids, crustaceans, dinosaurs, fish, insects and reptiles will require eggs to be summoned. anything else such as sorcerers, angels, demons, some mythical creatures will be able to be summoned on a normal base.

Name: Zero Bomb

Attribute: Dark

Level (counts as 'mana cost' so to speak): 1

Species would be preferred over creature type: Bomb

Atk/Def: 0/0

Effect: If this card is destroyed, destroy the attacking monster.

:P

Sorry to point out the technicality but wouldn't a bomb be considered a type of equipment or a trap (ie: land mines).

The rules are coming along fine but I am still working some other details. I've yet to find an intresting layout for the cards. Though I do like the layout of the MTG cards, I don't wanna copy. But they did prove an interesting idea.

Name:

Element:

Level:

Life:

Creature Type:

Discription:

Attack/Defense:

Try this layout for some cards from YGO so I can see if I like it.

Name: Blue Eyes White Dragon

Element: Light

Level: 8

Life: Wut iz lief?

Creature Type: Dragon

Discription: This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale.

Attack/Defense: 3000/2500

You mean like how Trample in M:TG functions in the exact same way?

Not really. Trample was an effect created because of the game's standard rules (where blocking per definition doesn't result in damage to the player regardless of power and toughness); by that logic, attacking an ATK position monster with lower ATK in Yugioh functions in the exact same way as MtG's Trample, when they're just different sets of ground rules.

Life on creatures decreases based on the difference between attack and defense. For example we'll use Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. These are not official stats though.

Dark Magician

Level: 7

Life: 250

Atk: 25

Def: 21

Blue-Eyes White Dragon

Level: 8

Life: 300

Atk: 30

Def: 25

Blue-Eyes attacks Dark Magician and inflicts 9 damage, decreasing the Dark Magician to 241 life. Any remaining damage is still inflicted to you.
