Shadow Zero
Liar. Part of it has to have something to do with your hatred. But yeah, you could be right. Then again, we have 48 hours to see what comes to pass, so let us see what shall come to pass in the meantime.

DL
1. Before I tell you, I want you to realize this isn't something I made up, it's what Green Day wanted it to be 2. The story has nothing to do with politics, that is only a secondary theme of the album
Track 1, American Idiot, has the purpose of describing the overall theme of the album. It talks about how f***ed America can be and the people that are living in it, setting the stage for the next song. Track 2, Jesus of Suburbia, is the beginning of the story. Unlike what Black-kun mostly thinks, just because the word "Jesus" is in a Green Day song, the song doesn't deal with religion at all. The term "Jesus of Suburbia" is taken from the life Jimmy, the main character of the story, lives. The "Jesus" part comes from the fact his parents want him to be the quiet kid that they can ignore and not worry about, and the "of Suburbia" part comes from where he lives, the suburbs. Now, this song is broken into 5 parts: "Jesus of Suburbia" in which Jimmy describes himself, "City of the Damned" where the horrible town he lives in is described, "I Don't Care" is when he stops caring what people think about him and his ideas, "Dearly Beloved" is Jimmy asking if anyone understands his pain and thoughts, and finally "Tales From Another Broken Home" is when he gets fed up with being victimized and leaves home. Track 3, Holiday, is Jimmy's initial excitement about leaving home. He decides to run off into the city and live the life. His excitement is further pushed by the energetic beat of the song (excluding the political spoken peice near the end). In the music video, for further points of excitement, it shows the band members speeding through a city with flashing lights everywhere while the lead singer stands on the moving car. Track 4, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, describes the reality of him leaving home. After the initial party of "Hell yeah! City, here I come!" Jimmy is realizing he has no one to turn to, and that he's all alone with no one to care about him. Track 5, Are We the Waiting, further pushes the thoughts of his despair. He's all alone in the city, his dreams of freedom were completely different than what he's dealing with now. The line "The Jesus of... Suburbia is a lie" refrences how he thought as the "Jesus of Suburbia" he would be able to take on the city and have an exciting life, but he realized as "Jesus" he can't. Track 6, St. Jimmy, is where he decides to become another person. "St. Jimmy" is the hardcore guy, meant for the city, born of rebellion. Track 7, Give me Novacaine, is about how St. Jimmy can't last. Jimmy isn't 100% about this rebel attitude, it isn't him, he's only faking it. He believes that nothing is what he thought it would be, only misery and let downs. Track 8, She's A Rebel, is about the girl Jimmy falls in love with. After all the despair, he finds the figure of what he was looking for in this one girl, who is full of rebellion and energy. The song is upbeat, signalling the change in Jimmy from despair to happiness. Track 9, Extraordinary Girl, is a sadder song than She's A Rebel. It talks about how Jimmy can't keep up with the girl he loves, because she is true about her beliefs while "St. Jimmy" is just a mask "Jesus" is wearing to try and fit in. The couple breaks up. Track 10, Letterbomb, in the first 10 seconds, you here a girl singing "No body likes you, everyone left you, they're all out without you having fun". This is the girl from the previous two songs, saying how Jimmy is nothing but a fake and is left to be nothing. The rest of the song describes the horrible state of life Jimmy is in, even insulting "St. Jimmy" further by saying "St. Jimmy is a figment of your father's rage and your mother's love" while going back to Jesus of Suburbia's opening line "I'm the son of rage and love". Track 11, Wake Me Up When September Ends, is only partially about the story. This song is mostly political, but still refrences the story of Jimmy's sadness. The line "Here comes the rain again, falling from the stars! Drenched in my pain again, becoming who we are..." is a flipped version of Holiday's "Here the sound of the falling rain! Like an armegedon flame! A shame, the one's who died without a name!!!!" which is full of life and energy. Track 12, Homecoming, is the opposite of Jesus of Suburbia. It is broken into 5 peices as well: "The Death of Saint Jimmy" starts off with the lines "My heart is beating from me, I am standing all alone." This is Jimmy saying, well, he's alone. The next line "Please call me only if you are coming home" is his mom talking, saying she doesn't want to hear from him unless he returns. The rest of thsi part is about "St. Jimmy" and how lively he was, but in the middle it says "What the hell's your name? What's your pleasure, what is your pain? Do you dream to much? Do you think what you need is a crutch?" which is talking about how Jimmy doesn't know who he really is anymore. The last part of "The Death of Saint Jimmy" is "Jimmy died today, he blew his brains out into the bay! In the state of mind, 'It's my own private suicide!'". The lines aren't literal, Jimmy has decided to return to the life of "Jesus" and throw away "St. Jimmy". The next part is "East 12th Street", where Jimmy gets into trouble and regrets it, he just wants to go home. "Nobody Likes You" is Jimmy talking to himself, saying how no one cares about him and the girl he fell in love with simply abandoned him. "Rock and Roll Girlfriend" is Jimmy's look at one of his old friend's life, which is going great, making him feel worse. The final part is "We're Coming Home Again", in which Jimmy is finally through with his adventure and sadly returns home. Track 13, Whatsername, is about the girl in She's A Rebel and Extraordinary Girl. Jimmy thinks about her and tries to forget her, saying "I made a point ot burn all of the photographs" and "I remember the face but I can't recall the name". The song is mostly somber until it hits the halfway point, in which it gains a louder tone and is about Jimmy finally throwing away the memories of the girl he loved.
Damn, took me a while to type this shiz up. .___. ___________________ LP wasn't trying to make a story at all. It was jsut supposed to be a normal album
@Fusion - You ask for it, then ignore it? ;_; Well on a side note, Whatsername is a really good song, even as a standalone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2LC1xrdOaM EDIT: YOU GOT THE REFERENCE?
