card making processes

hexcalibrate

Question

earlier i saw someone post that they were "putting finishing touches" on a card so i wondered how other's get their ideas and how they make their card's, so it could actually come in handy for other's who need some inspiration.

personally i just find out what kind of card i'm going to make, then get inspiration from other card's on yugioh wikia, google a image and put some of my personal preference's in. eventually out come's a card, in less than a few minute's.

I just go on some of my fav. picture website (unless I found one randomly) and then I start adding on.

Here's the usual order:

1.Picture

2.Attribute, card type , creator, SN, circulation, and set name (ATK / DEF, monster type, and level if monster card)

3.Name and card rarity

4.Effect

5.OCG fixes

You have to think about it. Don't just see a card with a good effect and take an idea from it. Think of your own ideas and other ways to enhance the viewing process of the card. The card's OCG is important, but it usually doesn't get the views or comments as much as how good the card art is and how much effort you put into it.

I always build cards from the images.

Usually all its Types, Attributes and name etc, but the Effect usually becomes unique no matter what pic.

Just make sure your effects aren't simple or dull.

'Destroy 1 monster' effects are simple just like 'Increase the ATK by' effects.

Use Card Zones, Counters, Tokens, Turn Based effects, Dice, Gambling or anything new.
