yeah i heard that they went down that path, though i havent heard anything theyve done i have a feeling that their newer stuff is probably not all that bad, some fans hated it others embraced the change, which is to be expected when a heavier band softens up.

After listen more, the album has a lot of death metal influences as well...I guess you can say it's an early deathcore album except it's actually awesome.

I'm an anime girl for you Moog<3

Embodyment is more death than core, and the core parts are more 90s metalcore, so it doesn't really feel like a modern deathcore album at all. I think you'll really like it.

Not yet. Only really set on a few bands right now, but I'm still finding new stuff. I'll give them a try someday. Any albums you recommend?

Mitochondrion's Parasignosis is badass, as is their first album Archaeaeon. I'll let Moog talk about Portal because he probably digs them more than I do.

Well I can't disagree really haha. I don't love everything on the list but a dig a lot of it, good variety here.

Well sheet, you have more death metal albums on your list than I have of ANYTHING. xD

I'm not really an album guy, tbh, cause I grew up only liking a few songs on them, the rest being a drag to have to listen to if I want my money's worth.

i always try to keep as much variety in my lists as possible. its no fun when its all just one style

i tend to dabble around and find as much as i possibly can from my genres that i enjoy. i always preferred albums because i like how the songs flow together, sometimes i delete songs, but only if they really get under my skin

going off Death Metal with some DSHS

also found this since its really kinda the only Embodyment thing that i can listen to right now, the first 16 minutes are tolerably recorded, though i couldnt get through the last 13 minutes, from what i can hear it sounds really good, though id prefer it if i could judge through studio versions of their songs

no

its good but it aint that great

new ACB song is really meh, kinda too average for the standards of them

It's become my personal favorite, new things pop out at me every time I listen and it marries everything I love about they genre into an hour-long package with huge production. It's like mathcore from the dark reaches of space.

Agreed on the As Cities Burn track though.

eh, i get what you mean with it, and i think its a great album, theres just other albums that id rather listen to

Refused released another new track a while ago, the chorus could use a bit of work, but other than that its quite decent

I like my metalcore to have a lot of depth, so I really love what Seizures did with that album. Not for everyone I guess, but it's probably my favorite.

I really don't know how I feel about that Refused track. I try to stay positive but...eeeeehhhh.

i think the new Refused track is okay, i doubt that the rest of the album will sound like it though, so theres nothing to worry about.

ACB and Refused new tracks are crap...Like ACB more when they did the whole indie rock with experimental post hardcore instrumental more than when they are full on hardcore. Refused is just being Refused without trying anything new. Glad I got to see them live 7 hours ago though.

Next up are probably Frog's sophomore lp and Envy's new lp.

i wouldnt say that theyre bad, just not that interesting, Envy already released their new album and ive never heard of Frog before.

did you hear the new TDWP tracks, i didnt find either songs really all that exciting as well.

Forget what it was but I think it was from the Record Store Day special or something...I enjoy the heck out of that song. Guitars and Drums are enjoyable. I think TDWP are one of the few metalcore bands that exceeded their shelf life and still can create some great stuff.

New envy is great, haven't listened to that Frog album but I've heard it's good.

Heard Envy's new lp got a lukewarm reception. Won't judge till I jam the whole thing though.
