I like this card, it makes for an easy summon of any level 8 synchro monster.

Plus it can be Special Summoned with Masked Dragon, which is always good in a dragon deck.

Not bad at all. A Level 3/4 Tuner searchable by Masked Dragon, definitely something Disaster Dragon can benefit from.

I love this card. Cyberdarks were lacking a good Tuner to fit with their theme (I was working on a Cyberdark deck that would use Dragon Synchros for Cyberdark Dragon), and it's a pretty nice card in Dragons, too.

Searchable, can modify levels of monsters permanently or just for a Synchro.

I haven't followed the game much but last I checked being able to play with levels wasn't a good effect. Being both 3 and 4 is nice but I'd rather use a level 3 for their effects or a level 4 that can beatstick.

Eh...not really, though. Phalanx only has 500 ATK and while it's good solely for Synchros, it doesn't give Cyberdarks any incentive to run. Salvo only works for level 7 Synchros. The type of Cyberdark deck I always ran likes to actually use the normal Cyberdarks for their regular strategy, while waiting for the Fusion cards or other big cards in the deck. Delta Flyer is searchable via Masked Dragon, can Synch with a Cyberdark for either level 7 or 8, can Synch with other level 3 dragons for 6 or 7, and it has 1500 ATK, giving Cyberdarks 2300 ATK w/ Piercing or half damage direct attacks.

They aren't bad cards, per se, but Delta Flyer fits with the dragon strategy much better than Salvo does, and Phalanx doesn't really do enough, although it could synch for Iron Chain Dragon, Brio, or Goyo.

Does it matter if it's weak? It's a easy Goyo or any other level 6 synchro. That's a lot of incentive. Maskdragon gives almost the same bonus anyway and the 100 points difference is meaningless since it even with it your short 2400. So once both are in the grave now you have options of either beatsticking via Mask power up or synchroing with Phalanx. Having 2 options >>>>> Having 2300 ATK.

Salvo needs no setup. You drop him and you have a BRD or other level 7. Yes your open for level 8s, but that loss is balanced by it not being a -1. Also not counting grave fusion getting them back on the field is nice. And having another Dark makes running DAD more appealing.

Meh, it's a matter o style I guess.

Probably style. I used to run Cyberdarks on the older WC games, and it almost never lost. That was long ago, and it's been difficult to maintain the style now. Armed Dragons are no longer good Cyberdark fodder, because they're too slow, and Crush Card Virus is banned, so I've been seeking a new way for Cyberdarks to work. Synchro Dragons sounded good, but the first variants didn't work very well, so I jumped on the chance for Delta Fly to be both a good Tuner and good fodder.

Phlanx isn't bad, I'd probably need to test it before making judgments. But YVD doesn't have it.
