Broken Archtypes

Because you can only fight broken archetypes with other broken archetype.
And then when everything is a clusterfuk of broken decks, it then becomes "balanced", as everyone is using the same broken.dek

It seems to me just a more strict Synchro Summon (which is itself a less strict Ritual Summon) with, effectively, built-in Counter Trap effects.

I still like Fusion and Ritual the best (simple and easily understood and not broken for the most part), and what I want to see for a new game mechanic is putting Ritual Monsters in the Extra Deck :P

I cant wait until these things come out, we really do need something new to freshen the game up.
I just hope they are worth playing and that Konami doesn't screw their mechanics up.

This is what I think would be the best mechanic for them:

- If the Summon of an Exceed Monster is negated, the exceed monster is destroyed and the overlay monsters return to the where they were on the field before the Summon was conducted.
- When an Exceed Monster is removed from the field, any remaining overlay monsters are returned to where they were on the field before the summon was conducted. Eg. If you Exceed Summon a Monster and your opponent activates "bottomless trap hole" on it, it is removed from play and then all the overlay monsters are returned to where they were. Basically, the overlay units are unaffected by anything and when the Exceed Monster is removed, they return to when they were on the field.

Exceed Monsters should also be able to be summoned by overlaying at least 2 monsters who's levels are the same. Eg. You could summon a level 8 monster by Overlaying 2 level 3 monsters and 2 level 1 monsters. This would also allow level 7 Exceed Monsters to exist (2 level 2's and 3 level 1's).

Exceed monsters are more difficult to summon than synchro monsters and they also must be drawn, so the above mechanic would be a good and fair way to make them playable.

This thread caught my eye a number of days ago and I was meaning to reply to it. After about half an hour of searching, I finally found it (the search feature on this site is horrendously bad). Also, I haven't seen another thread about these monsters, so it was either start a new one or revive this one.

I knew most of the information in the OP was bogus, mainly the built in self protection. But as I stated before, it would make a lot more sense if the Exceed Monsters basically "protected" the overlay monsters, and could also tribute them to activate an effect it might have. Also, Synchro's are a -1 in terms of field presence, but are far easier to bring out than Exceeds, so Exceeds need a mechanic that sets them apart from Synchro's. If Exceeds are removed from the field, it would be a 1 for 1 instead of a -1, because the overlay monsters are not considered to be on the field while overlayed, and return to where they were after the Exceed monster is gone. This would be a nice advantage that Exceeds could have over Synchro's.
