Hello ladies and gentlemakers!

Welcome to the fifth monthly YCM Awards, the week-long ceremony held at the start of each month to honour everything that is "best" or our "favorite". This month, I am very excited to announce that the YCM Awards have been completely redone, and a new format shall feature in this months awards. I am very pleased to be hosting for the second month in a row to kick this new format off, and promise I won't be running again for the March awards.

 

I realize that with every month that goes by, we have hundreds of new members join us here, a lot of whom may just be discovering the YCM Awards for the first time, so let me give you a bit of an insight into how this all began, what it is all about, and how easy it is to have your say.

In September last year, the now disgraced Johanderson made a thread in Questions, Comments and Suggestions, suggesting an annual forum awards ceremony. After 82 posts of discussion, the first awards began 10 days later on the 17th. They were to be hosted by Johanderson, but were soon taken over by Deity Mitsu, and were quite a success.

 

The awards were repeated the next month in October, and were even more popular. A council of 5 members was set up to diplomatically control the awards and make them more organised. The awards were regrettably cancelled in November, and postponed until December. There is now a completely new award format to vote on, with some of the same awards, some new awards added, and some old awards gone. More awards can be suggested by members for voting on by the council, which currently contains five members, listed in the The YCM Awards home thread, which was set up to document the awards from the very beginning, and is currently the home of the awards. The awards now run from the 1st to the 7th of each month, and a different host is voted upon each month by anyone who wishes to have their say. As I did last month, this month, I have received that honour.

 

 

 

The YCM Awards have been set up to give members something to aim for other than those ever-chased goals of having lots of posts, or lots of reps, or constantly nagging for moderator status. As long as a dedicated council is in place, they shall forever be held each and every month.

 

"So Frunk, how do I participate?". Well, you just have to follow some simple rules and instructions. The awards is broken up into two sections, as listed below:

 

Section 1: Nominating

 

- For the first 3 days (Friday the 1st, Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd) you can nominate anybody for the different categories (Please note: If you choose to nominate, your nominations automatically account for your vote for the certain category(s) you nominated on, so nominate wisely).

- You cannot nominate yourself for any awards.

- You cannot personally nominate the same member for more than 3 different categories.

- You cannot change your nominations.

- The winners of each section from last months awards are automatically nominated.

- You can nominate someone who is already nominated (This just counts as another vote for that person)

- You do not have to nominate to be allowed to vote.

- You do not have to nominate on every category (If don't nominate on every category, you can vote on the categories you missed/left when the time comes to vote).

 

Section 2: Voting

 

- You can only vote on the top four nominees from each category (these are outlined by the host, you can only vote of people above the "-----" line).

- You cannot vote for yourself.

- You cannot change your votes.

- You do not have to vote on every category.

- You cannot vote for someone who is not already nominated after the 3rd day of the month.

- You cannot personally vote for the same member for more than 3 different categories (this includes if you nominated them).

- If 24 hours pass without a new vote being cast during the voting stage, the awards will be ended early.

- Voting closes on the 7th of the month, then the winners will be posted.

- If there are any ties, the council will vote for a winner (If a council member is in a tie break situation, they cannot not vote in that particular tie-break).

- Members who's names are bolded won the same award in January, and are automatically nominated for the same awards this month.

- Names are arranged by total votes and seperated by alphabetical ordering.

- If you don't know what a certain award is, reply here and someone will be able to help.

-Some awards have certain rules, they will be marked with an "*", and you can see what they mean at the bottom of the page.

YamiCardMaker: First off, you voted for God Kaze four times, and secondly, I found it odd that "bimbpo" voted for almost the exact same stuff as you, so I ran a little IP check. BINGO on bimbpo and you, you're double-accounting to vote twice, and even vote for yourself with bimbpo. Even if this is not you, and is a sibling, friend, or similar, he made that post, from your computer, just 18 minutes after you voted, AND then, 9 minutes later, you replied with your surprise of being nominated, and acted like you'd never seen bimbpo before! Odd how you and your sibling (I know it's not, seriously, because you acted like you didn't know him. Do you know how long I've been doing this stuff and catching out rule-breakers? 17 months, they don't get past me too easily anymore! I never expected you to stoop to this low.) switch between the PC so quickly and frequently, and I'd guess that you've told him to vote the same as you, but he voted for you himself, right? Don't use this story, I've heard it all before. Don't forget that I know that bimbpo's email prefix is the same as your old username, Yami Cookie, isn't that coincidential? :? You are to be added to the newly-created YCM Awards blacklist for 3 months if you cannot explain this, depending on your response, since I know you did it, this may be eased (No, this is not a typo of "erased", it is eased, meaning my penalty may be smaller). Don't use the defence I can't do this without the concent of the council, as whoever is hosting the judge, jury and executioner.
