Mysty
Effect Veiler, D.D. Crow, Necro Gardna, etc. exists, so it's not like Gorz will always be completely undefended. "Extremely powerful" is a very wide range of levels of cards. BLS-EotE is at the higher levels of extremely powerful. Yeah, and Gorz is not in the "extremely powerful" level. In fact he's far away from being extremely powerful Okay, so they spend a lot of money to copy the top decks. That doesn't make them geniuses, that means they pilot powerful decks that may or may not use a lot of skill. If you read again you'll notice that I wrote "FOR FUN" Longevity doesn't make a person good, so saying that these people have played it since LoB doesn't mean anything. Playing meta decks doesn't make a person good either. Longevity = more experience. More experience = better duelist. Okay, so you'd think of a way to defeat Gorz. Well, it's not like every deck is 100% removal, so what if there isn't one in your hand? You'll just wait around to get the cards you need while they build up their resources? What if they never play a card down except facedowns in 2s (one could be an MST)? Gorz punishes bad players. When the opponent's field is clear, always keep Gorz in mind. If the opponent has Gorz, they will likely drop it on your highest ATK monster. Attack starting from the weakest monster, then stop at the strongest one. Opponent did not summon Gorz, and they will dfntly fill their field next turn OR drop their Gorz on the next first attack. I'll say it again, Gorz punishes BAD PLAYERS The only way I'll believe these peoples are geniuses at the game is if you can prove that they competed in the higher-up tournaments (Nationals, Worlds, or any other really high-up tournaments if others exist). Unfortunatly we don't have regionals nor Nationals here Also, the fact that your town says no card is a problem implies that they are complacent with any of the recent banlists and don't bother to think about which cards are banworthy or not, so how could you tell if a card is banworthy? Remember, counterability =/= balance. Almost every card can be stopped, and the current ones that can't generally are unplayable anyway. Duh we all have insanely broken cards that were 100% banworthy, but are not anymore. Remember how JD was a terror to everyone in the past. Everyone was saying it's 1000% banworthy, yet it remained @2, and now It's just another regular boss monster and no one is whining about it anymore. Why?
The first one all depends on how you define extremely powerful. To me, Gorz should be banned without question, which is "extremely powerful" to me. BLS-EotB is at the "if this gets unbanned I'm quitting" level of "extremely powerful". Okay, so they play those decks for fun? What do they play otherwise? You can't get more competitive than the meta, unless they have some super-mega-unbeatable decks that nobody else has ever thought of. Your longevity equation doesn't always work. A person can become really good in a really short amount of time (or just be a natural), or a person could play the game forever and still be a n00b. It isn't about how long you were playing for; it depends on the environment, which, in your case, is debatable based on what you say later. That attacking plan gets used at my locals too, and yet Gorz still causes problems. Peculiar, isn't that? If they don't compete in big tournaments, then you can't prove that the players around you are "geniuses"; you can only say they are "geniuses" within their locals. If your entire area is n00bs, then those geniuses could be n00bs as well. Either way, whatever they are isn't utilized if they don't go to big tournamnets. Regionals open up the area with which you play, but only really big tournaments show whether or not the players are geniuses or not. Every card and combo in the game is either good or bad for the game; there is no in-between and whether something is good or bad for the game rarely changes. The only reason Judgment Dragon looks weak now is because the Lightsworn decktype got nuked by Konami's ban list and Judgment Dragon can't be run as consistently (putting it to 2 had very little to do with it). Judgment Dragon is definitely banworthy, but Konami would rather ruin a decktype than ban its ace card and see if the decktype can still run without it. If an archetype requires a banworthy card to be competitive, then the archetype deserves to die. Overall, you state that within your locals, Gorz isn't a problem. Your local's view of Gorz's impact on the game =/= Gorz's impact on the game.
.Gideon.
Yea netdecking is noobish, they netdeck just to see how the deck works, then modify it, or just keep it as it is for fun duels. and again I say longevity=experience=better duelist One cannot experience million duel strategies, scenarios, rulings, etc in a "very short time" We don't have big tournaments, but we know every deck used in those big tournaments, we duel people online from all over the world, we defeated the bests. So it's not just within our area. Another simple reason why Gorz is not a big deal is because we got Solemn Warning. yeah, everyone here has at least 2 or 3. Mysty
You can't always expect Gorz, you know.
What makes it worse is that Omega says it's a mistake that you attack with your biggest attacker at all. Given only 1 in a deck, it's plausible that somebody would get a little overconfident, attack with their biggest guy, and get damage in and the opponent doesn't pop out Gorz. Then again, it's also possible that they will plop down Gorz and Gorz horribly exploits this mistake with a huge token, which to me feels like a "The reason you suck" speech. tl;dr: I agree with you Zandaa, on all four of your sentences, if maybe a little tweaked. @Evangelion: you have a very strange taste in fun. Then again, that's you.
Great Unclean One: VK
Lol. I love idiots who argue over a card that gives you a +2 for just being attacked against people who actually know how this card is actually used.. Sure it stops OTKs, but none the less, it's broken. Okay. Sure. It stops the attack, BUT ANY. It's like a monster version of Pot or something. Seriously, if I could turn the tide of a duel with one card and turn my opponent's level 4, 1800 beatstick supported with 3 Kaluts into a token that'll destroy him, it's broken. Also, Doom Shaman loves f***ing Gorz's dead body.
