Dealing with the death of a loved one.

Today, my cat died. He was sick and his kidneys would stop at any moment. We had him killed today, via an injection.
I saw everything. It was my worst nightmare. I'm crying, but happy because he is in peace and with no pain now.
How can you deal with this ? If the life of an animal is all that worthy, how much is the life of a person ? Have you ever lost someone ?

Discuss.

Again, sorry to hear man.

The deceased would not want you to dwell on the past all your life. I'm sure you realize that, and thus you deal with it by moving on. Momentary sadness is fine, but just, as cliche as this sounds, celebrate all the good times in that person/being's life.

Talking from experience. I lost a grandmother and an uncle this past summer.

Sorry for your losts. But it is true. We must move on. I am sad because it happened today, but time heals all wounds.
Thank you.

Sorry to hear that.

This is how life goes. Someone borns, someone dies. We can't cry for our whole life. My grandad died like 2 years ago. But now, as I remember in what condition he was, I'm happy that he's now in better place. It's like in case of your cat. Sometimes, for some people or animals, death is the best solution

Its such a hard thing. I know that months from now, when I get another cat, I'll look back without crying. But as always, every single person or animal is different. Everytime we got close to him, he used to meow, like he wanted to speak.

And if I cried so much with my cat, what will I do when my parents go ?
So no matter what, its too painful at the moment. I cried from yesterday night to now.

It would be sad to see one who suffers die. But its all to relieve the pain inside. This reminds me of some wild baby bird. We thought we could nurse it until it was back to health. Sadly one morning, it was found dead after in our house for 1 1/2 weeks. We buried it in our garden, gave a prayer and went on like nothing happened.

I have a friend whose dog died. It had a brain tumour and he found it lying on the landing, vomiting up its own brains and making sickening gargling noises. His house is such a mess, the body wasn't cleaned up for two days. Being the sick sadist I am, I found this hilarious.

When my grandfather, great-uncle and grandmother died, I got over it fairly quickly. Painkillers are surprisingly effective in those situations.

I lost my Dad last year, the day before Halloween. Worst part was, it was suicide. But, because it was suicide, it helped me not to be sad. The anger of why he left us kept me going, and now I'm over it. It also helped me develop my way to live by, which is, don't let another's actions dictate your life. I don't let it change who I am.

The only person that I've known that has died that really made me cry was one of my close friends back in 07. I'm over it now but back then I used to cry myself to sleep that's how important he was to me, when my grandfather died in 05 it didn't bother me as much probably because we weren't as close as my and my friend was.

It's better than keeping all that repressed sadness inside, trust me. ^^

Sorry for your loss, losing a pet is always hard. D:

Trust me, I let my anger out all right. >_>

I keep the sadness tucked away though. I've tried crying, but it just doesn't work.

Am I bad because I can barely shed a tear anymore about my dad's passing?
