The real issue with Archfiends is they have zero synergy. They're one of those archetypes you see in Custom cards that pretty much all do the same thing with a certain "theme", but at the same time, don't actually do anything.

Almost all Archfiends protect themselves from targeting effects (Darkbishop protects ALL Archfiends), but only if you get certain results on a dice roll. They also all cost LP per turn as maintenance costs, which can be negated with Pandemonium.

None of their effects are actually worth much, except for Terrorking, which has a Ha Des effect (as opposed to USING Ha Des), and Desrook, which revives Terrorking. Infernalqueen has this ATK boost effect, but it expires too much.

Their support on the other hand, is interesting. Archfiend's Roar revives an Archfiend for 500 LP, but kills it at the end of the turn. Falling Down does monster stealing. Pandemonium has a deck searching thing, and negates the maintenance costs. Battle-Scarred makes your opponent pay the maintainence costs as well. Checkmate...sucks, but it lets Terrorking attacking directly.

Interesting support for synergy-less cards.

Other archetypes, like Gravekeepers and Blackwings have support for other members of the archetype, or work towards some sort of theme while still doing their own thing.

I still use them in a Beatdown Archfiend Deck and it goes really well.

Thougt a Deck of full Archfiends isn't that perfect, but still, is a decent Archtype

Compared to BW, Sabers, 6 Samurai, LS, Gladiator Beasts, etc. Archfiends aren't very good no matter how you play them.
