Coffee Black
I wonder why everyone posted as if you only use Monarchs in their own build... Saying "Caius is better so this sucks" is basically a waste of time.
Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
Actually, I posted that Granmarg was meant only for Dark Gaia decks because it isn't that useful as a whole. Anyways, here's my thoughts on the Monarchs: 1. Caius. Removing is a very strong thing right now, and unlike in previous formats people don't play from the RFP pile nearly as much anymore. Its burn effect also gets off against a lot of decks, giving it that extra push. Plus games have been won by making Caius remove himself for burn. He also has Allure going for him. 2. Raiza. Anti-synchro mechanic and in other cases wastes your opponent's draws. Very good. 3. Mobius. He is third to me because he can drop 2 cards when he's Summoned, and right now, with Heavy gone, traps are big. 4. Thestalos. Discarding your opponent's cards is a rare, but powerful effect. And the burn adds that extra kick to the opponent's face if you hit something big like Gorz. 5. Zaborg. Doesn't have multiple options like Caius or Raiza, but is a useful effect regardless. Also has the support of cards like Honest, and can be used in Chaos decks. 6. Granmarg the Rock Monarch. Useful in Dark Gaia builds, and it has a semi-versatile effect, but it's too inconsistent to be considered of much use. 7. Kuraz. While Kuraz has its own draw engine and activates its effect when Special Summoned, if you actually used it on your opponent's cards it's 0's, and it was a -1 to bring this card out to begin with, so... 8. Delg. Its removing effect is useful, but mill can be a bad thing, and it also can't attack... Best used as a monarch or specific deck counter. 9. Emperor Sem. Not technically a Monarch, but since it's supposedly supposed to be used with them I figured I'd mention it. If its effect said that only the user drew a card, it would be useful. But since both players draw, it's stupid.
Manjoume Thunder
Thestalos is good because when your opponent keeps only 1 card on his side of the board to make your soul exchanges dead, he comes and saves the day. Cards like Vanity's Fiend can also do the job but if it doesn't provide instant advantage, it's not to be completely trusted.
