.Nu-13
Mainspring Bat 「ゼンマイバット」 WIND/Bird - Effect/1/300/250 Effect unconfirmed: Activate only during your Main Phase. Change this face-up Attack Position Card to Defense Position, and select 1 "Mainspring" monster in your Graveyard and add it to your hand. This effect canonly be used once while this card is face-up on the field. I'm iffy on this. Must test to pass the judgment. But seeing as I run Gale and Zephyros, this could make Icarus actually playable in Mainsprings... discuss
evilfusion
It's a recycler for Mainsprings. Not only is it a Book of Moon for them, but also lets you grab one from the Graveyard. I like this a lot. It could create some insane shenanigans with Magician. *squints* The picture says the DEF is 350, not 500.

Toffee.
You know... Mainspring Bat might actually work as an interesting tech outside of it's archetype. Plus, it can recycle itself. Boss Z
It a really Nice Card... now we just need some Alt Art for it... But seriously, It could easily replace the snail in my deck... or be run along side it... either or and lets my build run formula Synchron easier instead of relying on Spore Tokens
From the looks of it, you wont be able to activate it unless you have a Mainspring monster in your Graveyard, so those teching it in other decks will need to get another Mainspring Bat in the Graveyard. Boss Z
Why would you want to tech this into other decks? Mainspring is where this belongs, for sure Its effect wouldn't be useful for much other than Morphing jar / Empty Jar Decks... in which this might see some play as a Tech Choice... but anything else I doubt will see play

evilfusion
I'll probably add an experimental Mainspring Bat to my YVD set and test it out a bit, see how it works out.
Not quite. The way Bat's effect is written, it uses the same logic as Scrapstorm. Even if the Opponent chains Book of Moon to Scrapstorm, Storm will still mill a monster and let you draw, except it wont destroy your monster(as its no longer face-up). Its because not all of it's effects happen at the same time. Makes sense?

Ruling: Even if the targeted monster is no longer face-up on the field when Scrapstorm resolves, you still send a "Scrap" monster to the Graveyard and draw a card. So you don't need a Mainspring in the Graveyard in order to activate it.

At activation, you're expected to be able to resolve all the effects of the card you are activating. For Scrapstorm to be activated, you need: 1) A "Scrap" monster you control that can be destroyed. 2) A "Scrap" Monster in your Deck to be sent to the Graveyard 3) At least 1 card in your Deck to Draw. If you cannot satisfy this, then you cannot activate Scrapstorm. If you can activate Scrapstorm and something is chained so that you cannot perform the effects, then you go as far as you can and stop when you cannot perform it. For example, If you cannot "send 1 "Scrap" monster from you Deck to the Graveyard" because say Macro Cosmos is chained to Scrapstorm (causing the card to be removed from play instead), then you DO NOT Draw 1 card and you DO NOT destroy the "Scrap" monster you targeted. For Mainspring Bat, you would need: 1) 1 Face-Up Attack Position monster you control as the target to change to Face-Down Defense Position 2) 1 "Mainspring" monster in your Graveyard to be added to the Hand.
But still, Bat's recycle effect is separate from its first one. Just because they do not happen simultaneously doesn't mean they aren't from the same effect.

darkwolf777
One last thing, in case this was not noticed, Mainspring Bat does not currently say "Then, you can add 1 "Mainspring" monster to your hand." As it is currently written, adding the Mainspring monster to your hand currently a mandatory as part of the effect. If you activate the effect, you must be able to do both flipping the monster face-down and adding the Mainspring at activation. When resolving, If the monster cannot be flipped face-down, then you do not get to add a Mainspring monster to your hand. (though that's a little unrelated). So for the most part, so I'm just waiting for an official effect, despite the fact I'm hoping it ends up being separate. Really, teching this card seems like fun.
